DNA testing...its cheaper than all my other tests were!
I'm just throwing this out there....but now that I have gone thru a myriad of blood tests, and a stool test, I'm finding the most simplest test of saliva may be what I am learning from even more so.
I think Dr's should check each person's DNA results before 'guessing' what would be good for us, just my opinion.
I'm learning that I do not process antidepressant medicine what so ever so any of that Zoloft I may have had during my life did absolutely no good (I can honestly say I don't think I felt any difference back then). I also metabolize heart burn medicine way to slow for it to work properly (no wonder it made me ill when the does was doubled). I metabolize caffeine very slow so it has a great effect on me with just a little bit.
If one catches the Ancestry.com at the right time one can order this test for $79 and get it translated for $5 from Promethease. I know some of the info would be over the heads of those that aren't too interested in it but from a healing the body stand point I really wish I would have known what my body accepted and what it didn't a long time ago.
It is nice to finally understand what things may prevent other things by taking the right supplement....I am in learning overload right now and it is the most glorious feeling in the world.
Obviously this is all my personal opinion, but I am finding more "open" doors than "closed" ones which helps me feel like I am making progress in this MC world that has many AI issues.
With the super helpful guidance here at this site I have corrected more about myself with dietary changes, VitD3 and Magnesium Elemental and it has helped me get back on track without the heartburn, and WD, so much so that removing the added hormones I was on has helped just that much more. By analyzing my DNA and checking for Methylation issues this is teaching me even more now.

As far as I can see there is no information available DNA information on their site.

I agree with you 100%, Erica. I had 23andme do genetic tests years ago. At that time, they did include interpretation but nothing compared to what you get from other companies today. I discovered many of my methylation abnormalities and attempting to correct them has improved my quality of life.
I know that I have the gene for a rare type of glaucoma and I now go to Bascom-Palmer Eye Institute every six months to be checked. The doctors at the Institute took the genetic results very seriously. I don't process coumadin/blood thinners normally and my PCP was very interested in that. It is amazing what you find in your genes!! It is important not to take some scary results too seriously. I thought that using Hemp might help with pain and then found out I don't process Hemp or Marijuana chemicals. That removes the temptation to try pot for pain. ;-)
It is apparently up to the patient to do the genetic tests and then present the results to our doctors.

To get something you never had, you have to do something you never did.

I agree Sheila,
I have begun to pick and poke at the results, I don't take most too seriously because some of it can be a gray area depending on if you have 25-75% of that gene encoded with you.
So I am like you, I take the results that seem really up front, I seem to be able to have Warfarin and Statins just fine, just not Plavix.
Now I am feeling out the Methylation parts and am working that side, based on certain genes it really can help to pinpoint just where extra help may benefit, or not especially if those genes don't have anything that could be contributing to a certain cause.
I know I have a slight Methylation issue so am focusing on that and will see if in the next few months I can redirect my system a little, at this point the genes ought to respond to treatment if what I am finding is true to them.
Another take on these DNA results is I would have never ventured to guess I metabolized things slow enough that they may not have as good effect on my as they should, especially in the hormones dept. It must have been a blessing that back in my thirties my Dear Husband felt that a Vas would be ok, and I could stop all hormones because now after looking back those hormones may have caused me more harm than good by now, especially if I wasn't really processing them very well. It also makes me feel that my recent run with them before I found out all about this MC world was telling me something too, these results just solidified it.

HI Taia,
Yes I did the 23andMe, I did use Promethease (cost me $5) and I suggest when you download your raw data and Promethease gives their results you save it to your computer (I used my desk top) and look at each file within the Zipfile. I have found the one called report-ui2 is great for looking for specific gene codes and your unique results for that gene. I also used Geneticgenie.org and used my results with them to fine tune methylation and detox issues those are two different reports from them (they ask for a donation but a person can download the results regardless).
Also this same info can be downloaded by using Ancestry.com...but the only thing I have noticed with this direction is you don't get as an in-depth analysis of a few interesting points, but beyond that If I really wanted to I could have saved $100 by going thru Ancestry in case anyone has an interest.
