Hi All!
I'm really excited this morning because of the chat I just had with my boss. I'm a former chemist turned RCRA Manager/Environmental Compliance Specialist. In my field I have worked with an amazing variety of people of different scientific disciplines. My operations manager is an archeologist and he was just telling me that the archeological record shows a dramatic, and sudden, decline in human health after we adopted agriculture. It also caused a lot of social ramifications, as well. He shared a fascinating article with me which I think you might enjoy. Note that the article is dated 1987. It goes to show that the information has been out there a long time. I hope you enjoy this as much as I did!! Here is the link:

Kim,
Your operations manager is on the ball. FWIW, that topic is discussed in chapters 7 and 8 of the book (Microscopoic Colitis). You may have skipped much of the background information in the book and jumped straight to the chase.
But thanks for the link. That's a good discussion on the topic.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
Tex,
I'm reading your book and it has been so enlightening (but I confess I'm not to chapters 7 & 8 yet). You're a great writer, by the way! I now understand why crop foods can make us sick, but I hadn't even considered the social and economic aspects of agriculture. It's mind-blowing! And it really surprised me when a very experience archeologist just up and confirmed everything I've been studying in the last few weeks. You've been right on the mark with everything you've written and shared with the people on this site. I've been super athletic, and what I though was very health conscious, all my life. It's pretty humbling when you find out that everything you thought you knew turns out to be complete rubbish.
I'm looking forward, with great anticipation, to finishing your book and starting out on the adventure of getting my life back! Thank you again and again for this site and your book. If I'd continued to listen to my doctor, I would have lived a very miserable life indeed. Now I'm excited and so hopeful...which I a far cry from the depressed and desolate state of mind I was in just before Christmas. You are my new hero!

Nice article. I remember Professor Jared Diamond. I read all his books, it must be 25 years ago now. He wrote on a broad range of topics but his writings were probably my first exposure to dietary ideas of how ancient people likely ate. Weston Price, the former dental researcher has some enjoyable similar dietary observation writings. His are a little different in that they are on primitive societies found in the 20s and 30s.
