ear problems
I was very glad to find your site. I never knew there was a MC group/foundation before. I'm finding out things I never knew before, even though I've had MC for about 30 years.
I have had some of the issues mentioned in your articles such as depression, brain fog, headaches, memory problems over the years. About the last 2 years the symptoms I'm going to mention have been getting worse. I am wondering if any of you have had ringing in your ears, a feeling of cotton/fullness in your head (especially around the ear area), dull headaches, sometimes slight ear pain. This seems to make me tired, have tired eyes and feel out of it. I'm wondering if this could be another autoimmune thing or related to MC.
I would appreciate any input.
Thank you.

I have exactly those symptoms. It seems that the feeling of fulness is some times a form of Menieres syndrome which is located in the inner ear. My tired eyes turned out to be dry eyes. The rheumy is going to test me for Sjogrens. You may well find if you follow the diet most here do the symptoms will improve!
Hello. My ears ring at times. I never really gave it much thought as to what causes it. I have dry eyes and I used Refresh Tears as needed. They do help with the dryness.

Hi,
Welcome to our Internet family. I've had tinnitus (ringing in the ears) for almost 30 years now, but mine was caused by loud noises, and it started almost 15 years before my MC symptoms began to show up. I haven't had any headaches since my gut healed, roughly 11 or 12 years ago.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
Thanks so much for the information Tex. I am doing more research on the ringing in the ears/menieres. When you say you healed your gut, did you do the elimination diet and then gradually go on the Palio diet? That is so great!
Thanks for letting me know about the posts. I'm anxious to read what there is on this site.

PS
I did a very restricted elimination diet for about a year and a half and then gradually added a few foods back into my diet. Many of us here follow a modified paleo diet. For example, I never stopped eating potatoes and rice (because I tolerate them both just fine). I did have to avoid corn and all its derivatives while I was recovering.
You're very welcome,
Tex
