A Power Cocktail: Antioxidants In A Jar

Post by Lilja »

Hi all,

"Golden Paste"

This paste is excellent for supressing inflammation, good for blood circulation and good for the brain.

1 cup of water
1,5 ts grounded pepper
½ cup turmeric
1 ts ginger powder
1 ts cardamom
70 ml (or 2,4 oz) organic virgin coconut oil

Slowly heat water, pepper, cardamom, turmeric and ginger powder. Add the coconut oil, stir, just let the coconut oil melt, do not boil. Put it aside, let it cool and pour into a jar.

Use 1-2 ts for instance in a glass of warm almond milk, or in green tea together with some sweetener you can tolerate.
Delicious in larger doses in stews, rice etc.

Ooops! I forgot to write that it should be put in warm almond milk, since the coconut oil will get cold and stiff.
I have now edited it.

Thank you for sharing. I'm always looking for ways to incorporate tumeric in my life to help the brain.

Tumeric is such a helpful spice if used with blsck pepper and oil.

I can't use coconut oil - I use ghee in its place. Tumeric can be secreted into so many dishes.

Hi Happy Bird,

What kind of dishes do you typically put tumeric in? I put it on my sweet potatoes with black pepper and ghee. I use curry powder (which has tumeric) in my paleo mayonnaise that I make and like the curry mayonnaise with tuna.

I have Jamie Oliver's cook book which has some recipes calling for tumeric and also an Indian cook book but I have never tried any of the recipes.

I think a lot of Americans including me are kind of clueless about tumeric.
