Today I started Budesonide
A couple of hours ago I took my first Budesonide capsules. I hate taking medication and steroids scare me but I have been reassured by what I have read on here that many have had positive results from this medication. I am aware that this is the time to really pay attention to my diet and to work out my intolerances.
I am taking Vitamin D but do I have to do anything else to keep my Calcium levels up as I am not eating dairy? I am concerned that taking steroids can result in brittle bones.

this thread discussing calcium should answer the question

NB: I have not eaten Dairy for over 6 years, do not supplement with calcium, and do not have any calcium deficiency issues

Just read a little of that thread. Will read more later. I forgot the bone broth...that should help. As my IgG testing came back with me reacting to almonds and cashews I am not game to have almond milk.
The cost was $133 for 90 capsules and I should get around $37 back from Medibank Private. So that will last one month and then next month I have to cut down to two capsules a day and then the next month one capsule a day. So not as bad as some in the USA are paying.

I have a bit of rice milk in the rice protein.
The cost was not as much as I thought, albiet in doing the comparison the additional cost of my MC eating plan is cheaper than budesonide
(sometimes you need a reminder of why we do what we do!)

Exactly Gabes! My GI doctor the other day said something about the symptoms being a nuisance. I replied that it is more than a nuisance, it is what stops you living your life and doing the things you want to do. He is very nice and I do think he saw my point. We really just want the freedom to live our lives and as you said we just have to do what we need to do.

I am now on day 4 of Budesonide. Yesterday I started feeling a bit dizzy, tightness in the head that could turn into a headache but it hasn't as yet, some tingling in my face and feeling a bit anxious. Has this been what other have experienced and is it likely to get better or worse?

Linda,
Those are neurological side effects of budesonide. It could mean that you are allergic to budesonide or one of the inactive ingredients. Most people do not experience such side effects, but some people cannot tolerate the drug because of them.
Those side effects might diminish with time, but they could just as easily become worse. Some doctors recommend reducing the dose in such a situation to see if the drug can be tolerated at a lower dose, but in most cases, anytime neurological symptoms are caused by a medication it's almost always best to stop using it unless the use of the drug is critical (as in the case of an antibiotic used to control a life-threatening infection).

I am feeling a bit better today Tex. Still feel a little tense though. Hopefully these symptoms will diminish. Yesterday I took the medication and then didn't eat for a few hours so perhaps I am better to have something to eat with the medication. The doctor said the medication may bring some changes in mood and that I may have weight gain.

Linda,
That sounds better. Yes, it might become activated sooner if taken on an empty stomach.
It's somewhat common for budesonide to cause mood changes and hyperactivity issues which can sometimes interfere with sleep. It can also boost the appetite. Some members have even described house cleaning marathons in order to use up the excess energy — they just felt inspired to keep working.
Those symptoms are usually not a significant problem. The symptoms to look out for are blurred vision or tunnel vision, balance issues, dizziness, etc. Those can be signs of a serious problem with the way the drug is affecting the body. If you find that you keep running into walls or door frames, or you seem to have trouble focusing your eyes, or you feel as though you want to crawl out of your skin, then it's probably time to stop taking it.

Thanks for that Tex. If I run into just one wall or door frame I will definitely be rethinking this medication. I have been eating a bit so I will have to watch that. Not inspired to do house cleaning yet though
Thank you again
Thank you again

Thankfully I have not walked into any door frames or walls yet In fact I am feeling a whole lot better today. Yesterday I felt like I had low blood sugar and even eating some protein didn't help. Today I had my medication about five minutes before breakfast and I think that helped with minimising the side effects. Either that or I am getting used to it. However my stomach is gurgling even more than normal. Would there be any reason for that?
