raw caroa nibs contain magnesium

Post by twirlitgirl »

Hi everyone,
Just wondering if the magnesium in the raw caoca nibs is beneficial in addition to my magnesium spray which I also use several times a day. I like to
nibble on a tablespoon of cocoa nibs a day as a snack.
this brand package Raw Organic Navitas Naturals Cocoa nibs it is written " Caoca is one of the best natural sources of magnesium."
contains 16% magnesium, per 1oz serving, doesn't say what kind but I figure it can't hurt me , only help. I have no side effects from this that I know of so, just thought I would ask if anyone else has tried cocoa nibs for their magnesium intake and if they have gotten any side effects from it, not sure if it would worsen D. I know cocoa nibs do not taste like chocolate and are an aquired taste but with MC my taste buds have changed that I combine so many different foods together now I am willing to eat anything within reason that helps me feel myself again. Ha! thanks for reading and have a nice day. :pigtail:

I know nothing about that product, but if 1 oz contains 16 % magnesium, and if that's elemental magnesium, then that would be 4,536 mg of magnesium per ounce, which is over 10 times the RDA for magnesium, and that would make it a very potent magnesium supplement, indeed. Of course this doesn't consider the density of that product. For all I know 1oz might be a bucketful.

Hi tex,
I looked once again closer at the package and it says magesium 64 mg 16% opps I didn't see that the first time I checked, so that makes it quite a difference from 4,536 mg sorry I overlooked that. Maybe now it might not be as much and could be okay... I am wondering and once again thank-you for replying and helping me unravel this puzzle :-)

Thanks for the link. When I look at the label for that product, it shows a serving size of 1 tsp, which is only 3 grams, and each serving is claimed to contain 9 mg of magnesium, which is only between 2 and 3 % of the RDA. If you ate the entire package at one time, it would provide a lot of magnesium, but you would have to eat 40 to 50 tsps of it in order to get 100 % of the normal RDA for magnesium. So you don't have to worry about overdosing on magnesium at only 9 mg of magnesium per tsp.

You're very welcome,
Tex

thank-you Tex for the explanation I am glad that it turns out it is less magnesium then I thought, means I can eat without worrying. nice to get some benefits from a natural food that I enjoy in addition to the supplements, which I know I need to keep my systems functioning so I can be the best I can be more everyday. I am twirling and smiling.
