Symptoms That Started with Proton Pump Inhibitor Use
Hi all id like to hear from anyone who feels that their symptoms may have started with the use of Proton Pump Inhibitors (Lansoprazole, Omeprazole etc ). I'm sorry if this has already been discussed. Its Just that I feel my symptoms all started shortly after I took these religiously. Thanks Jim

In case you have not seen this. I've not used ppi's but other medications may have triggered my MC.

This wasn't an option in the poll, but does anyone believe that their Colitis is initiated by their bacterial flora & fauna, and if so has anyone had their symptoms relieved when they took some sort of antimicrobial/antibiotic or taken pills of a supposedly beneficial bacterial culture such as lactobacillus acidophilus to repopulate their gut flora?
.....and to add onto my last post, it could be that proton pump inhibitor medications could coincide with the bacterial gut flora theory of MC, since PPI's lower production of gastric acid which means that stomach pH will be higher and more bacteria will make it through the stomach to colonize the gut flora. Typically the good bacteria tend to be more acid resistant (eg. lactic acid bacteria ie lactobacillus acidophilus), while the more harmful bacteria (ie. pathogens and a strong suspect in MC, the sulfate-reducing bacteria, will not survive in lower pH environments).

we have a section with all the polls that have been done to date

there are a couple of previous polls that are along the lines of the question you ask.
in regards to pro-biotics - based on the experience of members, when we are inflammed and having symptoms, pro-biotics can make things worse.
once there is has been some healing, people can tolerate dairy free type pro-biotics.
I had good success with SB-Boullardi for healing leaky gut.
