In another thread, I said I would post my brain MRI. Here it is! The white part is the wide empty space between my frontal lobe ventricles. My Neurologist thinks that I suffered a massive stroke in early development but because it was early, my developing brain rewired itself and so I have always been high functioning. There is fluid in the gaps and if it would shift now, it could be fatal, so no head earthquakes, y'hear?
I do not drive, have focus problems and basic math eludes me but thank goodness I can still write. Balance is an issue and I'm very self conscious in public places. I use a rollator 4-wheel walker and can wheel myself where I need to go, catching busses and living close in to stores and other business centers. I have recently qualified for SSDI and that has helped a lot as I settle into a new role as homemaker. The new normal hasn't been easy as I have worked most of my life but I'm becoming more at peace with it and enjoy taking care of our new four year old sister cats, Victoria and Emily.
Tuesday was Fastnacht Day in PA. The tradition was for PA Dutch housewives to use up all of the fat in the house on the day before Lent. The Fastnachts are heavy yeast-laden donuts fried in fat. (Today they are sold by churches as fundraisers and many local grocery stores sell them as well

Interesting scans. About 5 or 6 years ago I had a couple of right-sided numbness events that the ER docs couldn't figure out, so they called them transient ischemic attacks (TIAs). MRI scans showed that my brain had shrunk, but the neurologists couldn't tell whether that had anything to do with the events or whether it was simply due to ageing.
Neurology is still in its infancy.

It is amazing when reading about the body and it's inner workings. Interesting about the brain scan, and how in life at some point it was able to over come possible strokes. Sorry to read also about the other health problems. Hope in time you find something that helps improve the situation. The mention of Dutch and the brain scan reminds me of a joke I heard many years ago. When I was younger, and healthy enough to be able to work, I communicated frequently with a Dutch tulip farmer on the island of Texel. He told me this brain joke which he thought was the funniest thing. The joke went like this ~
One day a Dutchman went to his doctor and said, Doc. i'm frustrated with life, I want a change. Instead of being a Dutchman, I want to be an Englishman. The doctor replied, no problem, I can make you an Englishman, our hospital has an operation for that. For a dutchman to become English all that needs to be done is remove 20% of the brain. Excited the hear an operation option was available the Dutchman agreed to have the procedure done.
After a quick operation, the doctor comes into the recovery room. I'm afraid I have good and bad news. The good news is the operation was largely a success. The bad news is that there was a mix up on the operation instructions. Instead of removing 20% of your brain to make you English, 80% of your brain was removed. We are sorry about that, but the work has been done. The former Dutchman looks at the doctor and replies, No problem mate, put another shrimp on the barbie. (Any Australians offended, I no longer have the dutch farmers number!)

Good to hear Gabes, and glad I didn't loose my welcome! I knew that could be the case. A distant Aussie relative comes and visits us in our summer time for a week or so anymore. He's good fun being around, with this many jokes and stories.
