Could MC be Infectious?

It could be *infectious* but not contagious....particularly if we are looking at the origins being something that a person ate at one time. Certainly spouses could have both eaten paratuberculosis-contaminated milk or some other food if dining out together. If it was transmitted by air or casual contact, all of these *dumb GIs* we complain about would certainly have some firsthand knowledge of this disease

Your husband may have been exposed to an infectuous fungus at some time in the past. Consider this quote from the following article:

Previous severe infections may be noted on a chest X-ray film as small, scattered, radio-dense nodules in the lungs, mediastinal lymph nodes, and spleen.

I'm not suggesting that this is what happened, but it's a possibility. Such fungus infections are possible from contact with bird droppings, also. I once knew a fellow who had this problem, and he had to get injections of antibiotics every day for almost a month, to get rid of the fungus. It really took the wind out of his sails.

Just remembered something. I had a neighbor once whose mother and mother's husband both had sacrodosis. This was rare enough that they were being followed by Baylor Medical College in the Tx Medical Center in Houston (Debakey's place, and not the same as the one in Dallas where Dr. Fine is), even though they lived in far west Texas.

This is interesting. My Mother had IBS, grandmother had IBS, Aunt had MCC, Sister has IBS and I have MCC. I think there are more than one link to this desease. LOve Oma

Wow interesting topic guys for sure. I do beleive at one point (maybe I should mention this to my doctor) that I was exposed to someone who had TB; this showed up on some test before I went away to college. And I seem to remember (I could be making this up) that possibly it was in my intestines? It was 6 years ago and it is hard to remember that far back. But again very very interesting topic. Geez I hope my new wife doesnt get it! (I just got married Jan 7th).
