Chia Seeds

Post by Mrs. Poopy Jeans »

I'm seeing a lot of recipes with chia seeds. Are they okay for MC? Touted as a super food.

lots of things are touted as superfoods!!

in early days of healing, i dont think many have had success. down the track, if they are finely ground up, they might be ok.

for any 'super food' to provide benefit, your gut has to have minimal inflammation, and be able to absorb and process nutrients.
the bland easy to digest eating plan, Vit D3 and magnesium is the starting point for that process.
time and nurturing is the other key element ( and costs nothing!)

Ground chia seeds are similar to ground flax seed — the fiber is very abrasive. Ground flax seed is an old home remedy for constipation.

I ate them regularly before the LC, wouldn't touch them now.

I started taking three teaspoons of chia seeds in my cocoa drink to bolster my magnesium intake. I just stir the chia seeds in when I make the cocoa. It's an acquired taste, I only have it because I am determined to get better.

Fortunately, chia seeds don't seem to be an issue with me.

FWIW, Chia seeds are digestible, whereas flax seeds are not.
