23andme raw data

Post by TaiaK »

So I finally received my 23andme results. I have been sorting through things for a few days and I see I have a double copy of the DQ2 gene-so another confirmation that being gluten free is a must. I then used genetic genie and got my MTHFR report. The 2 items that were homozygous were c677 and MAO-A-R297R. A1298 completely negative. I've done a lot of reading on here and the internet-very interesting and fascinating. So many different protocols recommended-what to do? I've been doing the B complex regimen Tex suggested, vit D, fish oil and mag glycinate for the last 8 months or so. Add other supplements? Gabes, I know this is your area of interest.

As for my MC, it's been 10 months since dx and it's slowly getting better. I did add a scoop/daily of cholestrymine about 4 weeks ago and it's not a miracle but it helps. Nothing in this journey has been an obvious help. It does take time so there is no doubt, for me, this is a culmination of many smaller issues that led to MC and it is a puzzle. It has been interesting to be on this journey and I know I will be healthier for it in the end. Slow and steady. Just know-be patient and research, read and try new things-hopefully we all resolve our issues in the end. Love this forum-I would never know any of these things without it!

Taia
getting this info is 'enlightening'

if you email your genetic genie report to me (you will need to PDF it from the website to be able to email it) I will have a look at the full methylation report. the Heterozygous status has impact on some things,

I am no expert but will share the knowledge i have...

I am also coming to the realisation that there is no magic bullet for all this and that I need to be patient. Just slow and steady like you say Taia. Even if it is two steps forward and one step back it means we are still going forward. I am in for the long haul

Gabes-what a generous offer! I will be getting that report to you via email shortly. I really appreciate your time and thoughts. Thank you. I'm hoping to further tweak things that may get me closer to remission.

Linda-we are all in this together and what a wealth of information here. I'll be following your journey.
