same here Erica, the pollen is causing my migraines to start back again. I have been so busy that morning time is the only time I get the mag oil on.

My grandmother passed away this week, she was my second mom. My daughter and I would visit her weekly. Needless to say, my gut is in major flare! Plus i registered my last child for kindergarten this week and I think I'm going to have a really hard time with that. I stopped my career 12 years ago to stay home with them....empty nest syndrome major.

Hope you feel better soon Erica!! And happy anniversary!!

My Goodness Martha,
You've had a triple dose of anxiety and sadness dealt your way, and I am truly sorry to hear this :-( Big Hugs to you and your family. When it comes to the empty nest - been there done that (and not to long ago), and it puts a different kind of spin on life and how we learn to deal with it. Thankfully you have littles coming and going, mine are all grown now with a little of their own, that I get to see weekly which is nice ;-)

I appreciate the anniversary kudos

I've just had a big pollen weekend hit me and boy am I all Histamine this week. Understanding some of the steps to help control it has been helpful but it's not perfect, love this time of year, but if I mess around in my yard too much its bound to catch up with me. Don't have the best thinking cap on today ;-)

Cheers
Erica

Well based on this quote from Gabes back on June 10, 2015
Keep a diary and gauge if histamine reactions are causing inflammation... This can be pollen, chemicals- ie cleaning the shower, or getting hair dyed, or going into an industrial polluted area, going into damp mouldy house.
I suspect I need some ideas as to whether or not it is a good idea to have any budesonide on hand if travel is in the future and pollen is still aggravating the gut?

I don't know just how careful I can be and try to enjoy my nieces high school graduation when I am having 7's as my daily ritual right now. Histamine is a real hard knock right now.

Any thoughts anyone?

A little insurance can be mighty comforting at times.

Is it okay to take budesonide when you are traveling when you don't normally take it. I am on budesonide at the moment and it has improved things even though everything isn't perfect. I did wonder if I should do some travel while I am on this medication but it doesn't suit us at the moment to travel.

Is it possible to just take this medication for a short time while traveling? Would that work?

I just took chloro tabs. It stopped my chronic gas (had since Sunday) within an hour. Praise God! We shall see what the tablet brings in the am. I haven't tried them in awhile. My Sunday landscaping job reeked havoc, evidently. Usually I wear a face mask, but forgot.

Erica,
Have you ever tried the face mask while you are working outside? I would definitely get insurance on the trip. Where is the graduation? If it's near a beach, I'd go. I typically go to the beach during spring break to help my allergies, but didn't get to this year.

Adalaide
I've never tried that med, but they say you have to take it for awhile then taper yourself off or it doesn't really help.

Sure, you wouldn't be the first member here to do that. That's assuming that you respond to it. And as Martha mentioned, if you take it for longer than a week or so you might have to do at least a short to medium length taper to wean back off of it in order to make sure that you don't trigger a relapse because of the rebound effect that corticosteroids can have on mast cells. For a short treatment of just a week or so you probably wouldn't need to taper the dose.

I probably didn't word that in the best possible way. I was referring to taking some budesonide as insurance while traveling if she feels that it would be helpful.

Oh Tex, I thought Erica was flying somewhere....

Pepto or immodium would be helpful too.

Ha ha....I'm definitely going to visit with my Gyno at my appt later this month about it then. Thank you Tex for clearing that thought up for me

Martha, I'm going to be on the ID, MT border near Flathead Lake, which is about 6-8 hours from where I live, so I kinda just need that little bit of reassurance that I know Pepto may not be able to give, and I don't respond to Imodium at all. I didn't give a face mask much thought, but perhaps it would have helped (hindsight). Based on the article I found http://www.holistichelp.net/blog/the-lo ... histamine/ I think I was doomed after the sunshine, exercise, and my diet combo, again (hindsight).

Just learned that when you have had a bought of histamine, the foods you thought were fairly 100% safe may not be able to be when the system is all charged up.

My safe foods have been on the fence this week and it didn't help that I thought I could add a little bit of sweet potato into the mix a day ago....nope....apparently that food is a sometimes food when I am not having Spring allergies because it in combo with a tiny bit of avocado made my bottom lip swell with a couple tiny water bumps that itched like crazy about 6 hours after I ate it.

I took a benedryl for the night, it calmed down the bumps but my body hated me at midnight and 4 am and during my morning routine before work this morning. Needless to say my brain is not at peak performance right now.

From last year to this year I have seen a bit of a pattern emerge....Strong histamine to Spring related events is not conducive to being able to perform at my best in any avenue be it eating, sleeping, working. There does not seem to be any body control what so ever during this time. All we can do is go with the flow and try to appease issues as they arise.

Darn it!!

Onto the next phase of the year....Summer, heat, dry air, lots of sun, and thunder storms....lets see if a pattern emerges again from this time last year.

I have noticed that very thing myself Erica. What was a safe food only depended on my current gut situation. Especially apples, bananas, sweet potatoes, and milks....

Surely this spring pollen is coming to an end soon. We are suppose to be getting rain tonight, Praise God! It's snowing yellow here. I feel like I'm 3 months pregnant with the nausea.

So hope we both get relief soon!

Erica,

I agree with you that mast cells/histamine tend to play a huge role in this disease for many patients. And they affect (and may be affected by) almost everything else that goes on in the body.

Had my Dr. Appt today with a new ob-gyn.

I really like her, she listened and answered me so well I nearly couldn't remember all the questions I had in my brain. If she didn't know something she said 'well let me try to find someone closer to this"...I came in with a list of serum tests that at first she said she could draw them up, but wouldn't be able to explain some of them, then at the end of my appt she said she would be happy to draw all of them up as it appeared I knew a lot more about my situation than most Drs. in this area.

I was so blown away that I didn't get ridiculed, and I even told her this was one of my best appts. with a Dr. that I could remember, even if she didn't know how to answer some of my questions.

I'm having my VitD3, B-12, Potassium, Zinc, Copper and Whole Blood Histamine checked, I have to go back as I want a Urine kryptopyrrole done also, http://www.orthomolecular.org/library/j ... p096.shtml this gives a bit of background on it, and I'm doing it to see if I am excreting B6 and zinc excessively or not.

I may not learn a whole lot with these serum draws but it gets me a little closer to understanding what my body is doing with some of the supplementation at this point.

Tex, will the whole blood histamine draw help to explain how much histamine is flowing thru me at this time? Since it is such a high pollen time of year?

I'm so tired of my body flaring up for what I perceive as no good reason.
