Thanks Mars...I am here at school waiting for my first class....I am starting to move into the angry stage, which is a healthier place for me mentally.....being really pissed off usually moves me towards taking action.....I will start by making a list of jobs to research...and work on my summer offerings. So much for teachers having time off in the summer! And, thre is a possibility the school will try to find something for me, but I'm not counting on it. Thanks for thinking of me....JJ

Jill-

I am so sorry to hear of your job situation!! I am glad you have moved into the "anger stage" - that is what usually gets you into action-taking mode....I was being taken advantage of when I worked for a national tutoring chain - I had been there for years and could practically run the place - I found out after several years that new-hires were making only $.25/hr less than I was - and I had to train them all! I asked for a raise, but was told I was making "more than everyone else, and at the absolute ceiling wage-wise". That made me mad enough to pick up some clients on my own. It was scary, but I have no regrets about how things came to be. But I had to get angry to take that first step....

As a person who is not comfortable with uncertainty/change, I know how you feel, but I have a feeling things will turn out fine for you. Think positive, and there *will* be another employer who will appreciate all you have to offer!!

Jill,

Now you're talkin'. There's nothing like the great outdoors to clear your mind, and inspire you.

Jill, I have been away for a few days, and so am late hearing your news. I do understand how scary it can be when you have only the one paycheck to pay the bills and then get hit with this kind of news. I think allot of us go through the "How am I going to do this?" stage, and first do allot of crying, but once we get into the angry stage, its like we had a fire lit under us, and we do things that we never thought we could do on our own. Being angry is what makes us move forward when we might never have done it, had we stayed in our comfort zone. I can see your mind is already working overtime with ideas and things to look into, way to go girl. " I AM WOMAN, HEAR ME ROAR!!!" I wish you the best, I hate change too, and I have to know whats, what at all times. I will cross my fingers and toes for you, K.

Gentle hugs

Thanks Wendy! Tonight, I went to Educator's Night at the Tacoma Art Museum...it was a lovely event, and I saw another art teacher I have known since childhood. Nothing like networking! She will keep her ears open for me. I also realized that I could perhaps apply for a gallery guard job. It wouldn't pay much, but might be enough to get me by and would still keep me connected with the art world. Hmmmm another option to ponder! I think the docents are volunteers, but that's another option. I was asked to work in their summer program last year, but it conflicted with my job with our International Institute. I can't believe how just getting out and about inspired me. Good to hear fom you Wendy!

Good for you Jill! I hear the uplifting tone of your attitude and was just waiting, I knew it was there!!!!

Networking can open many doors, keep it up. You never know how many doors are out or what's behind door number 1, 2, 3 until you peek inside!

Good job girlfriend!!!!
