Quercetin for Allergies
Just wanted to share with you that I've had a horrible time with my allergies this year. They really started early. My chiropractor and another person recommended I try Quercetin so I ordered some. I'm taking 2 of the capsules a day (one in the morning and one at night) and I do believe they are really helping. Here's the one I ordered:

It's dairy, gluten, and soy free. The bromelain was an added plus for me. It's supposed to really help with histamine levels.

Hi Jari,
You may be on to something here. I notice that you're only taking one-third to one-half of the labeled dose. If you don't mind saying, is that an arbitrary choice or are you following someone's recommendations?

Tex,
I'm just building up right now. I started with one capsule only and then went to 2. I need a little more help so I'm going to add more (I just wanted to do it slowly to see how I did). My chiropractor told me that he took 9000 mg a day when he had a bad allergy spell and it knocked it right down.

Jari-I'm very interested in Quercetin too. My Naturopathic doctor suggested it. I've been taking an H1 and H2 antihistamine, Tex's suggestion, the combo is helping with seasonal allergies and WD. The H2 must be
addressing the mast cell issue, thank goodness. My question is do you feel you have mast cell issues or are you hoping to control upper respiratory allergy symptoms with the Quercetin? Or both?
Personal question, sorry to be so direct :-)
Thanks for any input-

https://umm.edu/Health/Medical-Referenc ... /QuercetinQuercetin can also help stabilize the cells that release histamine in the body and thereby have an anti-inflammatory and antihistamine effect.
When I tried Quercetin, it didnt work for me. I think part of the issue was that i had too many other deficiencies and the cells were under huge stress.
good luck! hope it works

Christina,
No worries. There are no personal questions here!
I haven't seemed to ever had any mast cell issues (knock on wood)! I'm just trying to get my pollen allergies under control. This is my first season since being diagnosed and it appears it has hit me with a vengeance. I'm taking 2 capsules of quercetin in the morning and 2 in the evening now and have had no trouble. It seems to be helping somewhat.

Gabes thanks for the article on Quercetin and your experience with it.
Jari, I have to agree, seasonal allergies are much worse since being diagnosed with CC. I think I'll stick with the H1 and H2 antihistamines for now and watch your posts to see how you do. Maybe try
Quercetin later on. Thanks for your reply!

On the fence about this one....because I react to too much pineapple which has bromelain I may not respond as positively to this a I would hope. Darn....
I hope it give you the relief needed during this time of the year! Does that mean your snow is gone and things are blooming in your neck of the woods!

Erica-I also avoided the bromelain because of the pineapple issue. I was able to get a Quercetin with Vitamin C by Twinlab. I believe I ordered it on Amazon. It says the vitamin C is corn free and citrus free. I have been bad about taking it regularly and have been doing the 24 hr Allegra. I ran across the recommendation when I was researching low histamine cooking. Just another option.

Thanks Taia,
Didn't realize it came it other options, I guess I thought bromelain was one of its main ingredients.
I have a 'girlie' appt tomorrow with a new 'younger' lady GYN so will see how responsive she may be to my situation, I may only be able to walk away with a triptan prescription. I really want to have a few things tested based on not knowing where I stand with a few things.....VitD3, Iodine, Potassium, Copper, Zinc....etc....I want to be taking the right balance so I am not over working my system as it is.
Cheers

jari,
My brother drove through Colorado yesterday to Utah and had to turn around due to road closures for snow. He was upset, I told him it's snowing pollen here
Hope you are not snowed in!!

He must have been in the mountains somewhere because we have no snow. It's been beautiful. They are, however, predicting a chance again Thurs. night again. I'm really over it. It's so hard on my allergies. They have been worse this year than in a really long time (so I'm blaming the MC too). It's cold and then it gets hot and back and forth.

I just thought I'd post an update to this. I've been taking 2 quercetin in the AM and 2 in the PM, and I seem to be doing much better. I haven't had to take an Allegra during the day for about a week now. I believe it is really helping.
