Short cut info pleeeease.

Post by jrw226 »

Hi all
Am experiencing terrible restless and burning legs at night and the worst insomnia I have experienced. Feel like my body is completely out of my control. Also feel hot and occasionally feverish you know that icky exhaustion.

Tomorrow I can start my dietary approach as gastroscopy on Tuesday. Have had different advice but should go for the big four (gluten, dairy, eggs, soy) or just gluten to start?

Is it sensible to try to continue exercising or just give everything up as a bad job until muscles stronger. Feel like my health and strength are just draining away. .....

Sorry to ask for responses to questions which are probably answered all over the forum but just don't have the energy to search right now ☹️
Thank you so much x

Quick reply

magnesium - ideally topical spray/lotion but also safe oral forms like Mag Gylcinate
minimum of 600mg elemental magnesium per day ** check the fine print on the labels to ensure that you are getting 600mg elemental magnesium per day.
for oral magnesium, spread the dose over the day to minimise gut issues.

the other item that will help help with energy etc is Vit D3

I would encourage you to remove Gluten, Dairy, Soy and Eggs
Dairy is highly inflammatory to the digestion and minimise intake of process gluten free products
stick with safe proteins and safe veges for majority of your food intake.

Listen to your body re: exercise. Sometimes you just need to rest. Walking is good if you are up for it.

I agree with everything that Gabes and Brandy suggested.

You have a severe magnesium deficiency. Those are classic (and unmistakable) symptoms of magnesium deficiency. You sound just like me, last spring, before I doubled my magnesium supplementation. The reason why you feel that your health is draining away is because muscles cannot function without magnesium. They get weaker and weaker as our magnesium reserves dwindle away.

If you can handle cutting all 4 of those foods out of your diet at once, then you will heal faster. But if you feel that may be more than you can do in 1 step, then start with gluten, and after a few weeks or so cut out dairy, and then when you're ready, cut out soy, etc. Gluten should always be the first to go because the damage to the gut caused by gluten takes the longest to heal, by far, of any of the food sensitivities.

Good luck with your treatment program.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
