Shame on me, I didn't even notice that last night. That's due to the word processor I used for the text (Atlantis), which makes all sorts of corrections, completions, and additions automatically (when those features are selected). It's very fast to use, but definitely requires some editing afterward, unless I deselect those options.
When you say you like the first one, do you mean the wording or the layout, or both? I'm trying to redesign it so that it will say what needs to be said, but in fewer words so that I can use a larger font. These versions are so wordy that they're kind of hard to read because of the small print.
Some of this needs to be moved to the back, to open up some space on the front. The logo for example could go on the back, but I'm still working on text that can be moved to the back or rephrased.
Thanks for pointing that out.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
I like what it says, even if it may seem wordy. I know when we have an emergency we don't need for someone to be wasting our time slowly reading a card or arguing with us. Maybe the ADA info and the logo could go on the back????
I just think if the person holding this card thought of the awful alternatives (having to call the HAZMAT people to clean up the mess as we run out of the store and leave the mess behind) they would not argue with us. Honestly!!!!!! How cruel. Have these people never in their lives had diarrhea somewhere, anywhere and had something similar happen? Maybe if they are very young, silly, and insensitive but the rest of the world has had something similar at some point - stuck out on an interstate with no exits in sight, at a ball field with no portapotty, standing in a very long line waiting for a restroom, driving on an interstate in bumper to bumper traffic and can't get to an exit, etc. When we arrive at that restroom, we need immediate access, not an argument.

OK, here's a version with larger print so that it's easier (faster) to read, using both the front and back of the card.
Remember, these are the size of a credit card, 3.375 x 2.125 inches. Any wording or layout suggestions are welcome.

I'm big on minimizing amount of text for ease of reading
Consider change
Thank you for your consideration and understanding to Thank you for your assistance.
If cost is high to print both sides i'm ok with everything on front. If go with everything on front delete This card......information see.
Keep www.microscopiccolitisfoundation.org in smallerfont
i.e. if cost is high for double print, consider front only if it will mean more $ to foundation to build research fund. Cost might be nominal for two side print, not sure.

I like the wording on everything and double sided card looks great. Could change to say "Hazmat" to state severity of problem.
If double sided is going to cause cost problems, going to smaller font to get it on one side is OK with me too. I'm wondering how many people beside me will be willing to make a contribution towards the cost. We weren't talking about people paying for individual cards, were we? We were talking about finding a way to gather up-front money to off-set costs????

Brandy,
I was thinking of changing that "Thank you" phrase to . . . for "your cooperation", but maybe "your assistance" is better.
Not counting the cost of the printer, ink costs will depend on the type of cartridge used (whether a protective overlay is used, etc.), and should cost roughly 13 cents per card to print one side (in muticolor), up to about 31 cents to print both sides in color, with a protective overlay. Blank PVC cards cost roughly a nickel. So postage will be the biggest single operating expense.
We could print black only for less than a penny per side (less than 2 cents per card, for both sides). Or, printing monochrome in some color other than black would cost only slightly more (IOW it would still cost roughly 1 cent per side), depending on the color. But multicolor printing is obviously much more expensive. But of course color has eye appeal.
Or should we print some or all of the text in red or some other color? This will be direct dye-sublimation thermal transfer printing, so the muticolor ink film will be used up at the same rate regardless of how much we use of each color on the card surfaces. That's why monochrome is so much cheaper.
But if we don't put the MCF logo on the front, there might be some non-MC IBD patients willing to contribute to the cause just to get one of these cards, if they are appealing enough, because I'm not aware of any other organization using the ADA language on their cards (nor the "Disability" reference.

GAC,
We're considering sending a card to anyone who is interested in making a donation to one of the fundraising campaigns on the website. The card could be used by anyone who has any type of IBD.

I personally think it looks GREAT. I think it should make any store or business owner want to let us use their restroom in a hurry and realize we are not some loser off the street just asking for a restroom, that we really really have a restroom emergency. And it helps us have a medical card to hand to someone instead of trying to explain by ourselves what is wrong with us. I like it, Tex. Thank you so much for all your great work. You are so awesome and I appreciate so much all that you do for all of us.

I like this version, but is it too gaudy/in-your-face?
We need to finalize the design. The printer should arrive today, but the supplies may not arrive until tomorrow.

I really like the Red emphasis....feels more important with a sense of urgency to it.
I am going to donate, but I also wonder if anyone including myself that has the ability to print and laminate this in a docx. or pdf. can be offered this way on this forum, without it interfering too much with obtaining donations? If we'd like this to be a fund raiser that is certainly fine too :-)
Thanks!

Hi Tex,
In your face is better, keep hazmat.
Can we eliminate the word "retail" on side 2 if you think we can legally? I know Ally's law specifically is talking about retail businesses but I'd like to deemphasize the word retail.
I was verbally refused restroom access at the Library in Glencove Springs CO, verbally refused access to restroom at the Chamber of Commerce in Glencove Springs Colorado, and about 10 stores that had signs that said no public restroom.
I was directed to public restrooms about 6 blocks away under the train tracks. Glencove Springs is a tourist town.
We have some road warriors on the forum and my business travel is not routine. My company flies me and another girl to various counties in CA to areas I have not been to before to talk to customers, i.e. we are driving around in unfamiliar areas. I'm in remission now so this is generally not a problem but a newbie might have to pull into say the phone company or a quasi govt kind of place to use restroom.
