Looking for GF, SF, DF & SF Sauces I Can Add to Rice

Post by Bketler1 »

Hello Everyone!

I am looking for sauces I can add to rice. I don't normally eat rice. I don't like rice. Since I seem to need to eat some I am looking for sauces I can add to it to make it more tolerable.
I'm not as concerned about the sugar as the rest of the ingredients. Must be gluten free and dairy free, preferably soy free. Obviously I don't want to pack on a ton of sugar but I need the sauces to eat the rice so a little sugar isn't going to kill me.

Also does it matter if it's brown rice or white?

Thanks bunches!!!

Hi Becky,

I don't have a sauce suggestion since I don't eat sauces, but I can assure you that most of us cannot tolerate brown rice because of the fiber content. The main difference between brown rice and white rice is that white rice is brown rice with the brown husk removed.

One of the most easily digested types of rice (and one of the lowest in arsenic content) is jasmine rice (a product of Thailand).

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

That's what I thought too Tex. Dang docs and their uninformed suggestions lol.

Jasmine is my husbands favorite and the one he fixes on the regular so that works better anyway.

Now I just need some flavoring lol

in this early stage of your MC management plan, there are not many sauces per say that are safe. down the track there are some options
for now, bland minimal ingredients is your best option for healing, and getting well.

I cook my rice in my home made bone broth- dont rinse it when cooked, it is sort of gooey rice (with liquid)
this gives it lots of flavour and gives additional protein /amino acids etc from the bone broth

some other suggestions: cook it in small amount of bone broth and safe protein ground meat

you could make a sweet version for snacks using coconut sugar, honey, small amount of nut milk, maybe small amount of cinnamon

Becky
The home made bone broth was A real life saver for me when I was in the beginning of this MC.thanks to Gabes .

Gabes

For some reason I still can not tolerate chicken quarters (skin on or skin off)I can eat skinless chicken breast 24/7.Is there other members
that are the same way?
Since the end of winter I have been slowly adding more safe foods into my diet even some spices.

Terry
i have not heard of that issue - it is interesting. I am assuming that in the USA the same places are processing the quarters as the chicken breast?
Here in Aus, I can not readily purchase turkey pieces that are 'Gabe Safe' even the ground/mince turkey is tainted. at some stage in the processing the skin is injected with yeast and sometimes soy. as mince/ground turkey is the offcuts, i have reacted each time i have some.

the only safe turkey for me is when it is sourced from selective place offering gluten free turkey and no additives during processing.

great news that you have been able to add more safe foods. well done.

Gabes

At first I thought injected but now we get all of our meats from A top quality place that cut the meats there but the chicken I think is pre pack
no yeast or soy.For some reason I still cannot tolerate soy but I can eat baked beans, refried beans with no problem .

After reading Gabes' rice ideas I had an urge to make a sweet treat using just rice, coconut sugar and cinnamon. It sure hit the spot! I didn't have any milk and forgot about the honey, but it was a treat all the same. I was just starved for something sweet. Thanks for the idea! (Guess what's for breakfast tomorrow)
