Hi All!
Just had a phone call from Mags. Thanks goodness she is OK, but she has really had a hectic time. Yesterday AM she had a cardiology appointment. The cardiologist sent her immediately by ambulance to the hospital for tests! They kept her overnight and she was released this afternoon. I 'll leave out the details so that Maggie can tell you all about it tomorrow when she expects to log on here. It was so good to hear her joking and laughing......I've been so worried.

P.S. Here is one little tidbit: Mags said that the hospital released her because they couldn't figure out what to FEED her! LOL! Wayne, isn't that the same reason why the hospital released you early after your recent surgery??? At least MC is good for something!

Katy------some hospitals arent PREPARED in their training---as to this/that/the other~~~~~
I think we all have found that out now and again~~~~
Lou had to bring in copies,given to the head nurse,as to the names and symptoms/treatments of certain pneumonias~~~
And U can have their BEDS----lying on a rubberized mattress isnt too soothing---even with a sheet over it!!!!!

Your comments surprised me. I thought it was just my hospital that didn't have it's act together. Apparently it's a universal problem. Someone with serious multiple food allergies, could really be in trouble, if they didn't have access to the hospital dietition.

Thanks for posting the information about Maggie. That ambulance routine was kind of melodramatic, wasn't it? That could cause just about anyone to have a heart attack, just from the shock.

P S Yep, one of the reasons why they sent me home in four days, rather than the six or seven that they originally planned on, was because of the diet issue. LOL. I can see how Maggie's diet would REALLY be a problem for them.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

I'm also glad to hear that you are safely home, and getting something to eat!
You may have some people like this in your town, but I found out through our local celiac support group that there's a lady in town with a new business of taking gf meals to people for a reasonable price and delivery charge. These can be frozen for later consumption, so that one can get a little more mileage out of that delivery fee.
When I contacted her, she wrote back that she already had a couple of meals that she could easily make without any of my other "allergens." I believe that I was the first person to ever mention anything about having the egg problem, but I would imagine that she'll get many who can't have dairy and soy.
My group president thinks that this lady would make deliveries to the hospitals, but then one would have to order the meals one at a time as they don't have refrigerators in the rooms. Also, what if you couldn't walk to where the community microwave is located to warm one up?
Anyway, I just thought I'd mention this in case this hospital issue comes up again. Perhaps it might be a good idea for everyone to get in touch with their local celiac groups to get some names and numbers of owners of businesses like this, just to see how they operate, particularly in the case of hospitalized persons in need of strict dietary restriction/s.
