QUESTION about MC, Please

Post by TREESE »

Hello again, TEX and All - Continuing forward from the previous Post, NOW I am having a pro-longed MC Episode, the first in a good 7 months. It began when I got off the LIALDA after weaning down from 2 pills to 1 pill daily and then to 1 every Other day. It took 4 months to do so.

My stomach flared a week after I stopped the LIALDA completely and has Not really been back to normal yet. No other dietary changes had taken place since I had stopped the Pill, so it seems the Pill may be the cause.

Do you agree?

I also have come down with a UTI as of yesterday. Began an Antibiotic today for it. I am taking Probiotics, too.

So, I am back on LIALDA, 1 pill a day now.

My QUESTION Is.... Do I need to go Way back to white rice and boiled chicken? Or, just avoid certain things, like dairy and vegies? Can I still eat my GF Bread toasted? IOW do you treat a flare-up the same as when just coming down with MC?

Please Advise, TEX (or someone who also knows from experience) Thank You!

Hi Treese,

I'm sorry that you're having a flare. The fastest and surest way to get back on track is to do what you did to get into remission the last time. Once a full flare begins, it can be self-perpetuating, which makes it hard to turn around.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

FEELING SAD

Post by TREESE »

Hello, TEX - I am feeling so sad at the prospect of starting over again. But I suppose I am not as completely in the dark as I was back when this all began, anyway. I guess I had thought I could joyfully put those days behind me...maybe even forget some of the stuff I had to remember All The Time, wherever I went. But such is not the case, is it? :(

Questions: Do flares mean that the small intestine is Not healed? Does it Ever heal? Is this CC now a part of us forever????

I had an Exam by my Gastro Doc on the VERY DAY the symptoms were just starting to come back, and he had said it was Gone For Good! I guess he was going by my being symptom-free, off the LIALDA, and finally gaining weight again, feeling just soooo good!

TEX, I'm depressed. Guess I have to let myself feel that way for a while.

THANK YOU.... You are the Angel of CC sufferers!

Bless you,
TREESE
