Toilet Paper
Any recommendations for a soft affordable toilet paper? We normally use Charmin, but I blow through the rolls so fast, it's breaking the bank. We tried Angel Soft and boy, was that a mistake! It's like razor blades by the 3rd trip to the toilet.

I've used Northern for decades. If you want one that's almost too soft (because it's more fragile and tears more easily) they make an Ultra Northern that's really soft and "fluffy", but I'm guessing it may be priced higher than the regular. I could be wrong though, because I've never paid any attention to the price to be honest.

A few years back I invested in a soft-spray bidet that you install on the toilet. It sits under the seat at the back, and has a nozzle that can spray up to clean yourself with, and down to clean the nozzle itself should it get dirty. I consider it one of the best investments I've made. You use water to clean yourself, and toilet paper only for patting dry.
I ordered one from Dr. Mercola, but just google it--there are lots out there. My husband installed it himself, and he's not really a handyman sort of person. We did have to buy an adjustment piece to fit our pipe, but it wasn't that hard. You link it in to the water coming in to fill the toilet tank.

Like Martha, I got a bidet seat also. It is well worth the investment. I got this one at Costco. http://www.costco.com/Bio-Bidet-USPA-68 ... 27250.html It does need a place to plug in and we had a plumber do it but it wasn't very complicated (expensive). Deb
I alternate between wet/wipes and Angel soft.....but I try not to wipe to hard , and only pat when needed. If things get out of hand I will put a barrier of coconut oil on myself.

Because of how tremendously often I have had diarrhea in the past 11 months and how sore I became (I had hemorrhoids before MC began) I had to find an alternative to ANY toilet paper as none of it was doing anything but causing me to bleed. I suggest Walmart brand Equate Flushable Wipes (I can't flush mine as I have a septic tank so they go in the trash can and I empty often). Get a pop up dispenser and then buy the bulk package of 5 packages of 48 wipes each. Hypoallergenic and alcohol-free. They are strong, heavy and your fingers will not go thru them. And they do a great job cleaning up and feel good on very sore bottoms. I've tried other brands and return to Walmart which is the cheapest.

I watch for great sales on either Charmin or Northern and stock up! We have a bidet in our house and I never thought I'd be so thankful to have one, but after this last year, I can hardly function without one! :) I buy the wipes at Costco in bulk and use those for traveling.
