Please help this Worry Wart

Post by Suzy »

Hi all. I'm almost weaned off Dexilant, which was prescribed for gastritis, but gives me horrific side effects.

Even though I'm going slowly I'm still getting rebound. Now I've found that my GERD is much worse, and I have LPR symptoms (post nasal drip, sore throat). Those are probably magnified due to the rebound.

Here are my questions:

1. Do you think the GERD/LPR will get better as my rebound subsides and I eat carefully (I'm getting the Enterolab test done to pinpoint triggers)?

2. Can GERD and LPR be treated without medication (lifestyle and diet alone)?

3.How quickly can GERD/LPR turn to Barretts/Cancer....and God forbid those ever arrived, can they be treated without PPIs?

(My body just can't tolerate PPIs and once I'm off I never want to take one again.)

Anyone with hope/advice? Thanks very much. PS -- I have to get off the internet after this post. It makes my anxiety soar!

as I said in our previous discussions, I wouldnt make any more medication changes until you can get your magnesium level up.

re Q2 - Majority of health issues can go into remission with the right diet and lifestyle changes - LOTS of people here have done and lots of people with other health issues have done it. (i am not taking any medication for MC, GERD, etc etc)
but it takes time and your body having the right nutrients

for now you have plan, follow that plan and calm the mind a bit - listen to an audio book or some guided meditation, do some colouring in, spend time in nature.

I was just digging through old posts and discussions finding content for the guidelines section
came across a few sayings that may be useful

A healthy lifestyle is not just about what you eat, it is also what you consume emotionally, mentally and spiritually.

The truth is, that things don't really get solved. They come together and they fall apart.
They come together again and fall apart again. Its just like that.
The healing comes from letting there be room for all of this to happen: room for grief, for relief, for misery, for joy.
Pema Chodron, things fall apart

Oh those sayings are wonderful! I do agree that if I can just relax and let go of the fear I will heal much quicker. Thanks so much for sharing that. I'm printing it out. :)
