the other supp i added recently based on my methylation results was Methionine
this has also helped alot. i started for other reasons, and knew it would help keep histamine levels balanced, but recently read this info...
L-methionine is also responsible for the reduction of the level of histamine in the blood, which is why it can positively affect the symptoms of allergies. In addition, it is important for the regulation of the acid-base balance and provides sulphur atoms for various chemical processes.
In this way, it can also contribute to the detoxification of heavy metals (such as mercury from dental fillings) through the formation of complexes and of cartilage.
I have quite a few mercury fillings, (thanks MC, gluten, acid reflux, etc etc ) and based on all the reading research I have done, the trauma of removing them will set me back about two years. With previous dental issues i am likely to lose those teeth within a couple of years of removing the mercury fillings, which will mean I will have to have expensive bridge work or dentures which i can not afford. The best long term option I am happy to keep taking the supplements that will remove any excess toxins/metals
And like the post discussing lead in bone broth. Our food chain will always have chemicals, toxins, metals, EMF, etc etc . We cant protect ourselves totally from these inputs in our daily lives. so the best long term option is to take the right supps that allows our body to filter and excrete these toxins/metals

I still feel quite overwhelmed by all of this. It is like a full-time job doing all this research (while feeling sick). I am so grateful for this wonderful board and all the people willing to share their knowledge and experience.
I am a bit torn about doing the DNA testing. I am a bit afraid of all the risks it will show. I know, it sounds ridiculous, but I am on the anxious side. On the other side, it might really be helpful. Although, maybe I just need to give the healing more time since I can't do everything at the same time anyway.
Regarding your mercury fillings: I totally agree. Leave them inside. Removing those fillings will release a lot more mercury than leaving them the way they are. I have had discussions regarding this with my dentist who is a very close friend of ours and came to the same conclusion.
Patricia,
You can do the DNA testing, and via seperate web site run methylation report.
The report with all the health risks, is from a seperate web site again. Ie it is not automatic. So you only do it if and when you want to.
Further, when you do that type of report, it has other valuable info, it's not just about health risks.
I find it interesting to see if I got certain gene mutations from one parent or both...

I have been taking high doses for 6 months of molybdenum, Vit E, Vit C, Zinc to clear the toxins/heavy metals
Magnesium alone can not do this, but it is an essential element of the process.
Gabes,
Where have read that those minerals and vitamins that you use are the best for detoxification? Is it based on any studies?
The reason why I ask is because there are 100 or so different detox pages on the web and all recommend different and many without telling us why they recommend what they do.
Commonly used in detox/methylation protocols: Magnesium, Zinc, Selenium, Molybdenum, Vitamin A, B3, B6, B12, Folate, Vitamin C (together with Vitamin E)
Have you been tested and found that you have deficiencies in the ones you use?
Many believe that spirulina, chlorella and glutathione are very good when it comes to detox. Is this something you use?
Jonas,
Apologies for the delay in replying, started new job, recovered from major flooding event, and now have flu.
I can't quote any studies per say, like many things regaring supplements /nutrients money is not spent on researching this stuff, or if it is, the studies are not published /distributed in mainstream journals.
Multiple practitioners who discuss clearing toxins /metals and/or methylation issues all suggest these ingredients. All on the web....
I have had three practitioners who I have had contact with in the past 9 months naturopath, nutritionist and wholistic environmental based doctor all reiterate their use, and the dosages.
I have done lots of reading/research The reason I favoured these over other detoxing herbs etc is that these items are essential nutrients to cell health. They also have multiple benefits.
Things like the Mag, Vit C and zinc, balances histamine inflammation, supports immune system, supports adrenals, needed for cell regeneration, and also clear toxins... Which reiterates their status as essential nutrients in the body... On the basis of not overloading myself with too many ingredients. Using nutrients that are essential to cell health gave me optimised benefit for easy to tolerate ingredient.
Better cell health means that our bodies use Vit D3 better, and less inflammation in the body.
In my opinion it is getting to the root cause of the issues...

Further... Because of my kryptopyrrole status I also take high doses of P5P, zinc, B2 etc.
The dosages are based on my individual blood /urine results/methylation snp's results.

I can't get the first link to load. The server may be offline. I'll have to try again later.
Another thing that magnesium deficiency causes is the tendency to try to yawn in order satisfy the need to draw a deep breath. Doctors sometimes diagnose this condition as hyperventilation syndrome. They don't understand what causes it, but the cause is magnesium deficiency.
Thanks.

As I suspected, their server must have been offline — the original link works just fine now.

Gabes-Reading your post from a year ago regarding supplements I have a few questions.
Will you share the brands of molybdenum, vit C, vit E and methionine?
Was the zinc/copper test a blood test? or hair analysis? I'm getting ready to do the hair analysis for heavy metals and minerals and wonder if its worth the 60 bucks? Any thoughts on that?
HI Christine
Molybdenum - was country life from iHerb
Vit C - was Australian based practitioner product powder
Vit E - now foods soy free from iHerb
Methionine - now foods from iHerb
Zinc/Copper is a blood test - and I have also done hair analysis.
(due to my Pyrolle status, my zinc and Copper levels are checked every 5-6 months)
for me with my combo of health issues, and that i struggle to clear toxins/metals. there was two reasons to for doing the hair analysis. a) to see what metals there were and b) to look at the ratio's of the minerals. It is not exact science but it is the most affordable means to get some insight. You cant clear toxic heavy metals well if your minerals are not in the right levels and ratio's.
Knowing what metals are there also is important - i was expecting high mercury due to years of multiple amalgum dental fillings. My mercury was actually low. it was other metals that were causing me issues. (and i am in the process of clearing these... )
those tests along with my methylation profile etc gave us good info about which supplements would provide most benefit.
hope this helps

Gabes-Very helpful, as always! Thank you! Many of the Now foods products and many other brands of supplements have palm oil. It seems it's every where just like soy. Is palm oil
a concern for you?
