HI Martha,
Glad to hear from you :-)
For the last 2 weeks now I have been benedryl free (not sure I notice much difference in my gut but my sleep is iffy - so it can't be that)
I'm still taking Allegra, I find I need some kind of antihistamine, and since I've tried all others this is the only one that my body will respond to at this time.
I've noticed that once the slightest weather changes began from the end of Winter this is when I began to start flaring, and I may have exacerbated it by introducing a food or two that maybe my body just isn't interesting in entertaining at the moment. I'm learning once you start stirring the antigen pot up with things that MC has been predisposed to your just looking for trouble. Having been gluten free (to the best of my knowledge) and soy free, I may have let a teensy bit of dairy or egg slip by me, but only here or there and in very tiny amounts that may have been diluted in a product. This I need to forge an experiment on and see if this has been my culprit. Along with hormone fluctuations (yes even after having gone thru menopause in 2014) I can still pin point monthly cycle variations going on. I'm in a constant never ending tug of war with stress and release of it on a daily basis, this has been my focus lately. I rec'd my book by Mark Nepo and now I have some inspirational words to guide me out the door to work every morning.
I often wonder if our body and minds go into retreat in the Winter so to speak and once Spring arrives it is like a bee and we get a bit frantic on the inside with renewed energy and this ramping up on the inside sends signals all over the body to 'get going' and that contributes to a more active gut too. I really have to work at it to keep myself from overdoing anything right now.
Your right Martha, it will take some more time...I've had a nervous gut for most my life, and the crazy D for 8 years too (ever since I turned 40) and I've only gotten thru year one in the healing process, I have to give myself a break and credit for how far I've come, and anyone else who may be at this stage in their healing needs to give themselves a break too.
Here's to maintaining a proactive and uplifting way of being in this ever so convoluted life of MC!
Cheers
Erica

Update.....
Had a dentist appt yesterday to clean up a couple teensy spots on crowns and of course needed numbing. I don't do lido-cane, so they use something else for me, but anyway this morning I had an Almost normal Norman, almost is the key word because it was closer to a 5-6 on the bristol scale.
That tells me that I am probably not reacting to gluten but to some other item in my quarry of foods that I thought have been safe. As Tex's book says we first stop reacting to gluten, then our body looks for dairy (casein), then when it doesn't find that it may look for Soy, and then possibly Egg. Beyond that, who knows what experiment I may need to perform to check for other culprits in my diet.....Change Change everywhere there's change....there's a song out there that sound about like that ;-)
Anyway, I felt like reiterating that the numbing I had to have took the focus off my gut and that feels like it slowed motility down, even to the point I felt a little crampy but that was just because I haven't felt my food moving in my gut at a slower pace in such a long time, so actually that was a good thing, poor intestines.
