Vitamins? Feel like I'm playing Russian roulette!
I need help in the vitamin department as I am getting nowhere and causing worse D.
What vitamins do you find most helpful?
What brands have you found to be safe?
How much do you start off with and how do you know when to increase without causing problems?
How many days between starting a new vitamin?
How do you know when you are taking the correct amount?
What do you absolutely stay away from?
All feedback is greatly appreciated!

Hey Mashton,
Just chiming in before others will surely give advice. I was a big vitamin taker before MC diagnosis. I quit all vitamins except for vitamin D and topical Magnesium. When your intestines are not tolerating anything and are very inflamed, the vitamins don't get absorbed properly. All that money literally goes down the toilet. Give your tummy some healing time and get down to just a few essentials. For us, this is usually vit D and Mag. It's good to get a test to see what your vit D levels are so you have an idea. I reguire a lot to keep my level around 50-60 ng/ml. The vitamin D council website allows you to order a home test if your doc won't do one.
I use liquid vit D/K2 from Ortho Molecular Products from amazon.
I use Ancient Minerals magnesium oil and lotion also from amazon.
Epsom Salts foot soaks and baths- can get at any store
I recently started Re Mag from RnA Reset.com-posted about this under the title Magnesium Miracle!
Sorry if I'm repeating stuff you may already know.....

I stopped all supplements and took only taken VitD3 and Magnesium for the longest time, maybe 6 months perhaps. I got some healing under my belt, and did some DNA testing with 23andMe and learned if I had any methylation issues and that helped me to decide if an how much B vitamins I truly needed or which ones would help.
So don't get in a hurry to think you are not getting the right stuff inside you....when we have WD it is not advised to take anything but the VitD3 and Magensium (externally if needed). When you have been getting a good stool pattern forming then add in some safe B vitamins Jarrow B-Rights would be good to start with when you are ready :-)
Cheers
Erica

This is great info! Thanks for taking the time out to answer my questions. Right now I'm taking Jarrow D3 which I seem to be fine with that. I'm also taking Dr's best magnesium but I can't get past 100mg without WD. So the liquid and lotion might be the ticket!
Vanessa, which magnesium do you get the most benefit from? Also, any issues with skin irritation? I'll have to check out your post as well!
Erica, you are sooo right about not getting in a hurry. That's something that I struggle with and I'm learning to be patient with myself! If you don't mind me asking, how much was the 23andme test?
Nsaidcolitis, thanks for the recommendation on the vitimans I'll have to check the Freeda vitamins out as well. Can you get them on Amazon? Thankfully I can tolerate the Chex and almond milk!
I really appreciate your responses!

Hi Mashton,
The 23andMe was $199....they have sales around certain times like now with Father's Day for $150. It definitely gives you more bang for the buck than Ancestry, plus you get updates to genes and much more thorough information too. When it comes time to figuring out methylation Gabes has been a super resource

Hey Mashton,
I get the most benefit from Dr. Deans ReMag which is liquid mag I sip through out the day. I still use topical. I have read somewhere that it activates DHEA hormone in the body when mag is applied topically. All the info is in my other post if you have time to read it. (I'm not computer savvy. Not even cutting and pasting)
