legumes?

Hi there,

I just received results back from Enterolab, and did the antigenic food panel, but did not get tested for sensitivity to garbanzo beans. Do most of us, in general, have sensitivity to legumes? I am guessing yes since a part of what we struggle with is sugars, but I'm interested in hearing from you guys.

if your testing had a higher result for soy, then it is highly likely you will react to all legumes.

Hi Connie,

I checked your test results and your soy result was 9. At only 1 point below the cutoff threshold of 10, there's a small statistical possibility of a false negative result, but probably you are OK and neither soy nor garbanzo beans will cause a reaction.

That said, soy (and legumes) can be a problem waiting to happen in some cases. 5 or 6 years ago I tested negative to soy, but late last summer, after having a reaction to peanuts that caused my digestive system to just stop working (ileus, meaning no motility), I ordered a soy test and found that I am now sensitive to soy.

IOW, if you should have problems with symptoms in the future, keep soy and legumes in mind as a possible suspect. But for the moment, you should be OK with them.
