Prednisone never gave me any problems until it was combined with high dose doxycycline.
I am going to keep trying but I am just so devastated that the stomach will probably never be normal or perfect again. It's really hard for me to accept. I feel like it's almost humanly impossible to heal my stomach.

That was then. This is now. We learn from our experiences. Now you should know better than to use either doxycycline or prednisone.HelpMePlease wrote:Prednisone never gave me any problems until it was combined with high dose doxycycline.
You continue to post that over and over again, as if it defines the end of the world. You completely lose sight of the fact that every one of us here who has MC will never have a normal digestive system again. This applies not just to our stomach, but to our entire digestive system. Even more importantly, it also applies to our immune system — our immune system is changed forever.I am going to keep trying but I am just so devastated that the stomach will probably never be normal or perfect again.
But we learn how to accept our situation and we learn how to control our symptoms so that we can get on with our lives. You can too. But in order to do that you have to get past the denial stage and reach acceptance. As long as you continue to feel "devastated" it's unlikely that you will be able to heal because the chronic environment of stress that's perpetuated by that mindset will continue to generate inflammation in your digestive system.
The game of life isn't always fair, and sometimes the deck is stacked against us. We have a choice of playing the cards that we have been dealt, or folding. Folding isn't much fun.

As I suggested back in late May, on page 2 of this conversation, have you taken the time to look at the success stories area of this group to see what others have done and achieved??
Have you looked at the websites that I shared in that same post of others that have healed from major chronic illness??

Yes, I/we am/are able to control/prevent the symptoms by avoiding the foods and/or medications that cause our immune systems to produce the antibodies that cause the inflammation. But once the genes are triggered, the disease is always there, and if we slip up on our diet, either intentionally or accidentally, the symptoms will return. We can never go back to eating like we did before the disease developed (unless we want to be sick).HelpMePlease wrote:Sorry, I am confused. Weren't you able to completely reverse the Colitis? Or, maybe the symptoms of colitis?
We can control the symptoms of the disease, but only if we continue to follow our treatment program at all times, and that includes avoiding even tiny traces of the foods and medications that cause us to react. As long as we are careful, we are fine.

Hi, everyone. I just wanted to give a quick update in case anyone cared. I am now on Day 9 of no PPI. I just ate a Caesar salad today to see if it would aggravate me and it aggravated me just a little and much worse than while I was on PPI. I am not gluten or dairy free yet, but will start to incorporate that soon. I am just terrified that my stomach will never be perfect again. I need to be able to tolerate steroids.

Hey there HelpMe....
Some tough love here. Please quit asking us if your stomach will ever be perfect again. If you keep continually focusing on that question instead of focusing your precious energy on the things you can do to reduce inflammation, you have a mighty long road ahead. I'm glad your off of the PPI and feeling a little better, but it is really time to shift gears. Start by taking deep breaths, and slowly implement what you've learned so far. Good luck in your healing journey.

There is information in this medical article about PPI causing gastritis but there is no information about time frame for healing.

It makes me wonder if I should get another endoscopy.

what do you hope that having another endoscopy will achieve?
as we have previously mentioned, and if you have read the posts in the success stories area, there is no black and white fixed timing for healing.
For some healing can be quick and for others it can take longer.
and there are many factors that impact the pace of healing
- mental and emotional wellbeing
- eating plan and lifestyle choices
- nutrient cell health
- time
if you optimise all the inputs that go into healing then you will know that you are doing everything you can

as many of us has said multiple times, your ability to heal will be limited while you are worrying and what has caused the issues.
I strongly encourage you to stop overthinking what has happened, and put good energies into healing

When was your last endoscopy?
If it was fairly recent say in the last 6 months....and you were at a point that yes you could have hurt yourself, BUT maybe it is just time to accept a diet change for a good long period, then this is how you need to start approaching yourself. Have confidence that you are going to be ok....let everyone here help build you up and allow yourself to accept it.
Take the really good wisdom of the kind people on this forum to heart....change your diet and give yourself some time to see the results, be patient, relax when you feel like running, get good rest, tell yourself you are going to feel good every day whether that ends up being the case or not....but it is good Mantra advice to tell yourself you are doing the best you can, you will feel good, it will take a little time to get there and if you truly need some emergency help by all means seek it out Do Not get anyone's permission here to do what your intuition tells you to do.
No one will try to steer you in a bad direction here though, remember that
Hugs
