Erica P-G/Tex Amazon question

Post by Marcia K »

Hello, Erica & Tex. I can't find the log-in information for Amazon.com to give a percentage to the MC Foundation. I want to be sure to give it to my son. Thanks,
Marcia

Marcia,

There is no way to arrange a donation on amazon.com. The key is to start at smile.amazon.com, as Erica said, rather than starting at amazon.com. When I start at smile.amazon.com it automatically logs me in immediately. Otherwise everything appears to be the same.

You can't start at amazon.com and switch — that won't work. If you put an item in your shopping cart at amazon.com it will not be eligible, nor will that shopping cart item follow you to smile.amazon.com if you try to switch. IOW, if you accidentally start at amazon.com and then remember that you wanted to be at smile.amazon.com and you switch, you have to start over with your shopping trip.

Smile.amazon.com is technically a subdomain of amazon.com, but everything is the same as amazon.com except that a portion of your purchases can be donated to a charity of your choice at no cost to you.

This probably just confused the issue, and if so, I apologize.

Actually, Tex, I put an item in my cart in regular Amazon and then remembered "Smile". It was still in my cart when I switched to "Smile". Deb

I've had that happen to me too, recently. Apparently it happens when they recognize you. I've even had them remind me that I was not on the "Smile" website. It appears that after we use it enough, they track our pattern.

Thanks,
Tex

I just bought some items on smile amazon last week....do you know who donated or when a donation is made to the foundation Tex?

It's rather exciting to know I can contribute without thinking about it

This foundation really needs more awareness to as many as we can because I believe there are millions of people out there that have some sort of issue that relates to what is discussed on this forum daily.

Erica,

As far as I'm aware, no itemized accounting is available to the nonprofits that receive the donations. That's understandable because of privacy concerns for both Amazon and the purchasers. Donations are made by direct deposit to the bank accounts of the charities on a quarterly basis, according to the terms of the agreement.

If enough people take advantage of it the total amount could be significant. I buy a heck of a lot of stuff on Amazon these days, and it all goes through Smile.Amazon.

And you're right on target — the diet changes we use to get our health back can be used to resolve many different diseases/health issues. It's a shame that so many people (dealing with various health issues) insist on trying to improve their health by using drugs, when simple diet changes would do the trick in many cases without all the adverse side effects of drugs.

Thanks for the replies! I thought it was Smile before the amazon.com but I wasn't sure and I want to be sure that the Foundation gets credited. That's easy enough to remember!
