Not sure what changed.....

Post by armstrongpilot »

Was eating white rice, hamburger, and rice Chex only. Did really good for about 6 months. Now if I eat rice Chex...the next morning I'm stuck in bathroom. I cut out the rice Chex and I'm still have some issues. Why would my safe foods change? Now I don't know what to eat for desperately needed calories. I know that nightshades, fructose, egg, gluten, soy, and corn all seem to mess me up. It sucks to be starving with food everywhere!

here are some ideas;

have you changed your medications? ( i think you were considering it in your last post here?)
the gluten free rice chex, may still have small amount of gluten (20ppm) you could be reacting to this

the best way for MC'ers to get calories is things like home made bone broth - soups and stews. you can cook your rice in the home made bone broth
home made bone broth it has 75% of the amino acids we need and other gut healing goodness

Hi,
Same thing happened to me this Spring, seems I couldn't get a break once weather changed in my area of the US. I have mellowed out a little, I'm not having normal normans or if you even can call them that, and this hit me all of a sudden also.

Thought perhaps I hit an intolerant level of some kind in what I was eating, switched it around a bit, scratched my head....still not sure what I have done differently in the last two months. I started the liquid Re-Mag still waiting to see how that configures with me. I have not stopped my bone broth noodle soup though, that is my staple and I haven't changed the recipe in it at all this whole year. So what ever it may be I akin it to mast cells and higher histamine due to the increased temperatures. I'm at a loss in my situation too.

I certainly hope you are able to eat more than those three ingredients
Hugs

Ok....here we go......I'm not much of a cook. How do I make bone broth? What can I put in it?

Erica.....it might be the weather...it is super hot and humid here in southern Alabama. I noticed my energy dropped as heat went up.

I thought it was my medicine....I just never can tell. I never change anything for that reason. My dr put me back up to 3 entocorts a day with bkfst.

Bone broth:
Have a study cooking pot readily available to hold the amount of broth from the crockpot just sitting on the stove. Also have some gluten free Tikiyada noodles on hand ;-)

Large crockpot - fill as close to the rim but able to put lid on it without spilling - add sea salt - turn it on LOW.
Safe bone/in protein (I use a whole cornish hen) - Cook this off in the oven 350 for 75 minutes.
Cool protein and put meat in a bowl-cover it and set it in the fridge for later.
Put all the bones into the crockpot.
Let this simmer ALL NIGHT or a good portion of a day anything between 10-12 hours is fine.
Next Morning:
Ladle out broth into that pot on the stove
What might be your safe veggie? If you don't have one try carrots - proceed to peel and slice up some carrot like you'd see in a soup.
Simmer broth and carrot on the stove for 40 minutes - after this amount of time break up half a package of those gluten free noodles and let that simmer for 15 minutes.

Now you are ready to eat....and portion this out into containers to freeze and take out as needed to heat up in a microwave. Use Sea Salt to season with...nothing else. If you want to just do broth - do that for now you can always add the carrot and noodle later.

This seems more wordy and complicated than it is....once you do it a couple times you will find your short cuts and it goes much much faster.
Good Luck, You can do this!!

I was eating Rice Chex without realizing that the Vitamin E in it is soy (so much to learn) so I stopped eating it. Soy was 46 units for me with the EnteroLab testing (with under 10 being normal) so I avoid it at all costs. My local grocery store carries their brand of gf rice cereal that doesn't contain Vit. E but I don't buy it often because I eat too much of it.

Soy doesn't bother me really but the chex cereal does, can't figure out which ingredient. I had to drink a cup of soy milk for an allergy test with no problems. But the cereal caused me gas. Too many ingredients, I guess.....

I eat rice cakes with cashew butter and honey for a sweet snack. If u can handle rice.

This recent thread has instructions for bone broth and links to the cuts of meat that are good to use...
http://www.perskyfarms.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=22401

In line with Erica's instructions, you dont have to cook the broth for long period. if you use baked bones or small pieced bones, you only need to slow boil for 2- 3 hours to get a gut healing broth.
I use mine to cook vegetables or in your case the rice - dont rinse or strain the rice - the liquid has gut healing goodness
you can broil safe meats in the bone broth and eat these meats hot or cold

I have been cooking my bone broth for 24 hours. Is that no good for gut healing?

It's gut healing but the longer you cook it the more histamines.......

I may have to update how I am making bone broth since I am not using large bones....perhaps I am incorporating more histamine into my diet than necessary at this point. Since I was doing major healing my body probably didn't pay attention to this aspect, but I bet now it is!

Thanks for pointing that out Gabes!

Dumb cooking question again

Post by Janie »

Have frozen turkey legs, I can't find anywhere on google, how long to bake them before I make bone broth! Defrosting out of question for histamine issues?
