Histamine Poll
Just curious and looking for some hope . Sorry I couldn't figure out the poll option.
1). On a scale from 1-10, how bad was your histamine intolerance during recovery?
2). Do you live in a high allergy area?
3). How long have you been in remission?
4). Do you still take an antihistamine?
5). Do you still have to watch out for high histamine foods?
6). What were your symptoms?
7). If histamine doesn't bother you now, how long did it take you to recover from it?
Thank you so guys!!

Martha,
I would have gladly converted your post into a poll, if that were possible, but there was no way to do that because of all the questions you listed. The poll option here is designed for multiple choice answers to a single question.
My case is different from most members here. When my reactions began I had no significant histamine symptoms — even my pollen allergies pretty much disappeared. My pollen allergies slowly returned after my gut healed (roughly 8 or 9 years ago — I've been in remission for almost 12 years now). My histamine issues began to increase noticeably (bumps, rashes, weals, etc. on my skin in addition to gas/bloating/D responses to high histamine foods) about 3 or 4 years ago, possibly about the time that I developed a soy sensitivity (but maybe that was just a coincidence).
I have to watch histamine sources like a hawk now. I tried a single Enjoy Life Double Chocolate Chip cookie a couple of weeks ago and I promptly developed some itchy bumps on my lower legs even though I was taking a daily Allegra at the time (chocolate is a high-histamine food as you are probably aware). I skipped the antihistamine today for the first time in a few months to see how it goes.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
Thank you so for your response Tex! That sucks about you still having to watch histamines...
Sadly last night I indulged into those double chocolate cookies that I had in my cabinet downstairs. Yes, I should not have opened them. I've thought about them for a month and caved.
I feel that is what is keeping me from my recovery. I so want to eat other meats besides a frozen turkey, but for now that gets me some healing....

Well Tex, the last time I cooked lamb chops they smelled so bad while cooking. I haven't had the appetite for it. That ruined it for me and especially my husband! I keep starring at the frozen duck in the store, maybe I should cook one. I'm not a fan of dark meat, but I do need a change.
Uncurred bacon doesn't bother me. It's hit and miss on beef and deli ham. Depends on how long it's been sitting there. I eat a ribeye or New York strip every 2 weeks. I crave ham, but can't find a frozen one. I so need a farm. Duck eggs are scarce in the summer right now too. I haven't been able to find any in a month.
