the brands mentioned by Joanne in her reply above are not readily available in Australia, (although you might be able to get them via Amazon or iHerb)
I buy magnesium lotion direct from manufacturer, NTS Health, Mag Sorb.
the best MC safe oral magnesium is the Ethical Nutrients one, and chemist warehouse frequently have it 40% off the tablets are easy to break in half so you can spread the dose of oral magnesium.
Arrgghh! I forgot to note where Tarleigh hails from. Thanks, Gabes!
Comparing magnesium dosages will help you determine which might be more cost efficient, Tarleigh. Life Flo lotion has 330 mg magnesium per teaspoon. MagSorb oil has 550 mg per teaspoon ("Every 30 mL of MagSorb contains 3300 mg of actual magnesium."; 3300 mg/30 ml=110 mg/ml; 110 mg/ml x 5 ml/teaspoon=550 mg/teaspoon) but it is listed as an oil not a lotion so usage may be different. Gabes...I couldn't find a MagSorb lotion on the MTS Health website otherwise I would've made that comparison. Anyway, at $29.95 for 250 ml (about 8 1/2 ounces) plus $12.50 flat rate shipping for the MagSorb oil it might be more cost effective to try the Life Flo lotion at 8 ounces for $9.94 plus $7.98 shipping. Even though the MagSorb has 1.7 times the magnesium per teaspoon it costs 2.3 times as much. That is if I have all my math and shipping rates correct...hard to do with my old blonde brain.
The other consideration is that some people find the oil irritating...it can sting a little and maybe that depends on an individual's skin sensitivity. Plus from what I've read it is best washed off after a half hour or so. I like the lotion...at least the Life Flo lotion...because I can apply it and forget it.

Excellent analogy.
And a lot of clinicians are apparently wearing blindfolds when they order those tests.
That quote is too good to allow it to just fade away. Would you mind if I use it in my next book? I won't mention your name.

Hey, I want that credit! It's my only chance at fame in this world.
Just kiddin', Tex. Please use it if you like it. BTW, what is the subject of your next book? And what other books have you written? I liked your MC book so much I should prolly read all your books!
Never mind. I just searched you on Amazon and bought the Vitamin D book.
I have never had any major issue with the mag oil.
For your Info - Yes Amazon and iHerb do ship food and supps to other countries, issues can occur that not all products sold in the USA have adequate labelling to allow it to be shipped to all countries.
one reason for this is that for the USA for a product to be gluten free - it can have 20 part per million of gluten, in Australia for a product to be gluten free, it can only have 5 parts per million of gluten.
Another reason is the way inactive ingredients and dosage is presented on the labels. Quite alot of the food products and supplement products that USA members purchase and consume, do not meet labelling law requirements in Australia and other countries
the other issue for supplements can be the dose per tablet - in Europe and Australia there are protocols about dosage for some ingredients. there are products on iherb that the label might be ok, but as the amount per tablet is too high, so it can not be shipped.
I buy quite a few of my supplements from iHerb, when you order more than $40 AUD delivery costs are free, and it gets delivered within 6 working days.

The next one will be titled Pancreatic Cancer - A Guidebook for Prevention. I plan to publish it free for digital copies and at the bare cost of printing for printed copies so that no one will have an excuse for not doing what they can to prevent becoming a victim of the disease. There are many simple things that can be done to substantially lower the risk of PC, and most of them are diet related.
PC is currently listed as the the fourth leading cause of cancer deaths and it's predicted to be the second leading cause of cancer deaths in only 4 years from now. It's time to do what we can to prevent the disease from ever developing because once diagnosed, the mortality rate is extremely high. I hope to have the book finished before the end of August.
I'm also working on Edition II of Microscopic Colitis, but it's going to be a while before I finish that one because the total number of pages is becoming much larger than I originally planned. It will pick up where the first one left off.
Tex
It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

All great info. Thanks again, Gabes.
So my cipher of 550 mg per teaspoon is pretty darn close to the listed 560 mg per teaspoon. I won't retire just yet.
I have a friend who was diagnosed with PC in November 2015 and she died June 8, 2016. I had no idea it is preventable and I'm getting a copy of your book as soon as it becomes available.
Well, this is just an update on my journey with magnesium supplementation. For the past 6 months I've been using the Ancient Aliens oil and had worked up to 600 mg transdermally 2x day. Yes, my skin is all dried out, especially my hands, so I relate there! The surprising news is that it appears I'm not absorbing it at all! My lab work just came back and I'm still low 1.4 in the blood!! Yikes, that was really disappointing, too, as I've tried to stay away from the oral MG due to worry about causing D.
But there's no point in going through all the oil, wiping off, etc. and the expense if it isn't being absorbed. I'm so disappointed!! My doctor called in a magnesium supplement, but I'm so afraid of anything oral. I'll go back through and read carefully about what you all have found that is best absorbed, because all this time I thought I was raising my MG levels, and apparently they've not raised at all.
Any ideas are welcome, and thanks to all for sharing!
Thanks for the info re magnesium oil. I didn't like the oil and use magnesium cream after a shower or if my toes start to cramp. Life Flo seems to be the best product.
I take magnesium glycinate, 200 mg 3x a day with no D problems. The M. Glycinate seems to work well without causing any problems. Check the archives for more info.

Thank you, Sheila! I guess we should be grateful (I am) that there are so many types of magnesium to choose from!! (Why do learning experiences seem like such a waste of valuable time when we're trying so hard to do the right thing and heal ourselves??!!) If not for that ... maybe some of us (?) might not actually LEARN????
So glad to hear you've found a good magnesium protocol. In going back through the posts, it seems this, as everything, can be a very individual thing. I like the idea of Re-Mag with it's absorption and the fact that you can gradually raise the dose, plus it can be sipped throughout the day. This would make me drink more water, and I know that's important. And I also like the Dr's Best Chelated Magnesium which seems to be well tolerated by many and I believe is basically the magnesium glycinate form that you take, with some extras to help ensure it doesn't cause the D.
Thanks again for your comments and sharing what works for you! I'll keep you posted! I can't wait to feel the difference ... I thought I was already at those high magnesium levels. Goes to show that having lab work done periodically is pretty important ... maybe more so for us newbies when we're so full of inflammation, etc.
Another thing I've learned from Dr. Dean is your mag RBC blood test can test even lower after 3 months on ReMag because the body is using up more than your giving it. Many people take this as the product not working but it's opposite. Like giving a starving child fruity pebbles. Okay, not a very good analogy....you finally give the body what it wants and it immediately puts into action! I would suggest the ReMag, well worth the bucks. And if you are frightened about oral, it is nice that your the captain of the ship and can add drop by drop.
Do you think it's possible that the same could be true of the Ancient Aliens oil? That it IS being absorbed and actually taken out of the blood and being USED? That would surely be nice! But realizing all the mental, muscular and other issues of low mag I've had for YEARS prior to any D, and then the months after that to get a LMC diagnosis and find you all here ... I'm likely one (as I believe you said you were) who has been extremely low in magnesium for a VERY long time. Another thing that really gets me is that you have to ASK for your magnesium levels to be tested. It's not even on the Complete Blood Count (CBC) labs that are more routinely done, and it SHOULD be.
I definitely will be giving the ReMag a try, and likely the Dr's Best also. Do you think I need to start at the lowest levels (probably safest), even though I've been taking 800-1,400 mg MG transdermally daily for the past 4 months (ramping up)?
Wishing you and everyone continued health and healing!
Hey Holly,
Not sure if the topical would act the same way as oral as far as testing goes. There have been studies done where mag levels go up after Epsom salts bath. When you order ReMag there is a packet that has explicit instructions. Since I was a "veteran" mag supplementer I started at 1/4 teaspoon but backed down to 1/8 for five days before increasing. Then slowly worked up to two teaspoons a day. I purchased a dropper with measured teaspoons on it since the capfuls are a pain and not very accurate.
Vanessa- I'm a Remag fan also, started a month ago. Just ordered ReMyte. Question: Do you mix the ReMag and ReMyte together or do you take them separately? At the same time?
Thanks-Christina
Hey Christina,
I mix both together....glad to see your doing well on it. I hate to keep saying the products name but don't know of a another product like it. I swear I don't work for this company guys! But if they asked me to, I'd definitely consider it.....
