Janie,
Do you by any chance have insulin resistance? Chronic or severe magnesium deficiency can cause insulin resistance and because insulin is required to transport most nutrients (including magnesium) into the cells, early on in a magnesium treatment program it can be difficult to get the magnesium into the cells where it's needed. As the magnesium deficiency begins to resolve, the insulin resistance will diminish and it will be easier to absorb magnesium.
IOW, this could be why you are having a difficult time eliminating your symptoms.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
Janie,
There are usually no obvious clinical symptoms of insulin resistance. Lab markers would be things such as low HDL cholesterol level with a high triglyceride level, high fasting insulin level or a high uric acid level.
I would just continue to use magnesium, because if you have insulin resistance caused by a magnesium deficiency, then supplementing with magnesium will eventually bring improvement and the insulin resistance will fade away. As you absorb more magnesium, eventually it will be come easier to absorb magnesium at more normal rates.

Hi Janie,
I'm sorry to hear the anxiety is rearing it's ugly head. I too had anxiety so badly at one point I had to force myself to walk down my street to see if I could leave my house. Until I realized it was mineral deficiency/food allergies.
You are on the perfect path. Keep plugging away on your topical magnesium. Things will calm. As you begin to think more clear and get a little braver, think about the ReMag. You can start at one drop on your food if you wanted to. 1 drop=2.5 mg of mag. I'm just telling you this info because I've been in the darkest places with anxiety and the only thing that has ever helped it was magnesium. Especially the highly absorbable ReMag. Go slow, baby steps.....you'll get there. And please ask us anything. I went from being scared of my own shadow to relaxing and allowing the healing to come.
