That depends on individual food sensitivities, but in general, the vegetables that seem to be the least likely to cause digestive problems for most members here include well-cooked squash, carrots, sweet potatoes, green beans, cauliflower, and broccoli. Most of us have to modify that list though, in one way or another.

I cannot have the cauliflower, and broccoli nor cabbage family, onions, spinach and the rabbit food Greenery . I am cramped up and lose movements then. Called the D word.

We sure are all different. As as a kid I used to love them and the shades now I cannot have as I also have Acid re flux. In my mind they are what you mentioned are healthy and good for you.

I sure others can delight in having them. Enjoy!


I did have a baby food of squash last night. Two table spoons. My dad used to have to have baby food too.

I was a kid back then. I said to my Mom why does Daddy have that baby food. Is he being a baby? Who would think I would end up a candidate.

Again, this topic has been quiet awhile, but it's an important one and so many people have touched on this. In the earlier stages of my MC, I was told to avoid broccoli, nuts, seeds, any fruit/veggie with little florets or hard small bits. They can get caught in the pocket of an inflamed intestine, I was told. So I've stayed away from those - even asparagus caused me problems! 2 veggies here which are my go-to's (at least til further notice) are cooked zucchini and canned artichoke hearts which I then take out and bake with my meat protein. Sometimes I can find frozen cooked kale, and that's a real gift as it's also easy to put in the baking pan next to my protein, sprinkle lemon juice and (in my case, a little paprika, plus sea salt and garlic powder), cover and bake for 1 1/4 hours.

CarolAnn, I take baby food in a pouch along with me when I travel. As you said, who would have thought...but I'm happy just to be able to travel and enjoy life again so whatever it takes! It actually isn't bad, probably much better than when I was a baby! :lol:

I have survived off of only white potatoes and carrots, cooked until mushy but even those I cannot tolerate very often. I was diagnosed a year ago, have been GF for 6 years, DF and SF for a year and I still struggle with what to eat. This has been a very difficult year but I started out in the intermediate ICU. I have come a long long way this year but I have learned to expect very tiny baby steps in my progress and I do not introduce any new foods, even after a year. Maybe after two years I will feel more comfortable doing that but my body has rejected so very much that I have tried to feed it that it just isn't worth it to me. My goal is to get food to "stick" inside of me and to try to feel better.

I've been in the same situation, no veggies or fruit for more than a year. Almost all fruits and vegetables contain toxins(salicylates) to protect the plant, some also are high in oxalates which are a problem for some people.

So glad to hear someone else has the same problem. And I have always LOVED LOVED LOVED fruits and vegetables, in fact, would choose them over any kind of meat. I would add beans or cheese to a huge salad. I loved having a garden, going to the Farmers' Market for fresh fruits/veggies. Now all of that is off-limits unless I want to spend my life in the bathroom and I've spent way too much time there this past year. It does make me sad to know what wonderful foods I am missing. Periodically, I tried adding just one item, only to find out that just the tiniest amount made me deathly sick. It just isn't worth it. So I stick to small amounts of white potatoes and carrots only.

Noel, I sympathize with you and I am here if you ever need to chat. This is tough. Tougher than non-MC people will ever know or understand. It is good we all have each other.

As to vegetables and salads... I used to love all greens, but after my MC journey and my very restricted diet for the last 3 years, I have totally lost the interest and the appetite for greens.

I know what you mean - you lose your taste for something that makes you that sick. I don't even have a desire to eat fruits and veggies any more.
