MC friendly colonoscopy prep diet

Post by Jumpindogs »

Hi all

Does anyone have a list of MC friendly elimination diet stage 1...yes, I am still there...colonoscopy prep stuff to eat the day before the fun starts? The only things I can think of are bone broth, tea and apple juice.

Thanks a bunch!

Gatorade...uh oh

Post by Jumpindogs »

I am just reading that I have to mix the Miralax into Gatorade. And that Gatorade contains brominated vegetable oil made from soy along with other unsavory ingredients. What can I substitute for Gatorade? Coconut water perhaps?

coconut water is a better option for the miralax

low residue eating for colonscopy prep would be white meat, well cooked veges in small serves. having soupy stew via home made bone broth is my suggestion..

Joanne,

I once lived on chicken broth, jello, water, sprite, and 7-Up for 2 weeks between tests so that I wouldn't have to go through the cleanout process again. Unfortunately the GI doc's sergeant-at-arms (aka nurse) insisted that I drink the swamp water anyway (a gallon of Golytely). I managed to get a little over half of it down before I became too nauseated to drink any more. I was as clean as a whistle inside though.

I can't recommend that diet though, because I lost over 20 pounds during those 2 weeks and I was pretty much down to hide and bones when the time came for the exam.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

The best thing I had was chicken bone broth (strained) but I didn't make enough of it and ran out. It is warm, tasty and satisfying. Apart from that I just had water and apple juice.

You can also get some gelatin (plain, like Knox brand) and make your own jello with juice. I think I had that, plus homemade bone broth, when I was prepping for mine.

Good luck to you! I get a fever every time I go through the "clean out" process. Every time the nurse checks with the dr to see if they can still go through with it. I tell them in a shivering voice, oh yes he is....
