23andme

Post by Marcia K »

Good morning. I just sent for the 23andme test kit. I remember reading that there is a website to enter the results of the 23andme for an explanation in layman's terms but I can't remember what it is. Can someone help me? I'm excited to see the results! Thanks,
Marcia

Marcia-I did 23andme earlier this year and used Promethease to generate a report using the raw data files in 23andme. Very easy to do and I paid $5. I also used genetic genie to get my methylation report and that was free. Great information to have.

The Promethease report is big and lots of mixed info-good and bad. I have my report downloaded on my computer because I think it expires after 45 days. So this way, I can always just look at it when I want with no worries of it going away.

I'm sure there are other programs you can use. If you do a search you will find many discussions on all this now that you have some of the website names.

Not sure the processing times for 23andme currently but my results took 10 weeks. Hopefully, you will get yours quicker!

Thanks, Taia! I hope I don't have to wait ten weeks for the results. It will be good to have another piece of the puzzle.

Marcia,

Looking forward to hearing about your results as I have been toying with that piece of the puzzle also.

for things like full methylation cycle report, genetic genie is one report provider, and livewello is another that has methylation report and additional reports

I had ordered my 23andme on July 12 and had my results by August 8. The report sites I used were genetic genie (free), NutraHacker (free) and the $5 Promethease which had the most information. It is all very interesting. But be prepared to read, read, read! I'm still trying to figure out what questions to ask to know what to concentrate on for MC issues!

Good luck!

Seems like it took almost 3 weeks for my results...seemed very quick to me, I think they are doing a better job of there turn around times.

I also used Promethease and Genetic Genie and Livewello ;-)

Marcia, your results are going to be HUGE....you may not find you can post to this forum very easily unless it is something specific to visit about...FYI. It's nothing like Enterolab....
