Hi,

Welcome to our Internet family. I'm sure that you are correct that your low GFR was almost surely due to dehydration. The secretory diarrhea associated with MC is notorious for depleting magnesium, potassium, and other electrolytes. The only time in my life when I have had a problem with low GFR was when I was severely magnesium deficient. My GFR got down in the 30s, and I was afraid that my kidneys were shot, but lo and behold, as I slowly rebuilt my magnesium reserves my GFR climbed back into the normal range.

Again, welcome aboard and please feel free to ask anything.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
