Yes, there are quite a few posts from folks using the ReMag, and Vanessa's journey is certainly a major one to go back and look at how she managed her ReMag protocol.

What I have learned is that each of us is very different. And, ANY type of magnesium can cause loose stools if your body's threshold for total magnesium during a particular period of time (say a day, or a half day, or whatever measurement you use) is exceeded. One of the tricky parts, as many have said, is finding the right amount and types of magnesium to take; there's no "test" for it, it's something that each of us has to judge for ourselves, by carefully observing our magnesium deficiency symptoms and comparing them to how we feel when we're at our best (ie, we've reached a good "saturation" point for magnesium ... and this will likely change, too!) PLUS, we need to be ready to back off on the amount of magnesium if we feel we're starting to flare or note increased number of BM's and/or softer/looser quality.

Right now, even just a few days after posting what I was doing, I'm backing off on my total magnesium due to exactly those symptoms. I'm eliminating the Dr's Best Chelated Mag Glycinate and the Ancient Minerals mag oil for now, and staying at just under 2 tsp/day total of ReMag. It truly is a juggling act, at least for me, but I'm determined to fix my deficiency, and try to stay focused on the gratitude I feel to this board for their help and for the product ReMag, as it is a form of mag that I can tell I'm actually able to absorb.

Thanks guys. I will start tomorrow. I am C dominant, so if this form of mag helps I will be extremely grateful.

 I can't drink that much water! I don't mind the salt, but the quantity is beyond me.

Lesley,

Not to be a Debbie Downer but you really need to try and drink half your body weight in ounces of water, especially if your constipated. So if you weigh 150 pounds, shoot for 75 ounces of water. Drinking enough water could fix the problem right there. The salt is important so the water doesn't go right through you and gets into the cells. Don't forget we are mostly water and drinking enough is uber important for a lot of reasons. Also the ReMag has instructions that come with it in a handy pamphlet. They also have great customer service. I started at 1/8 teaspoon and worked up to 2 teaspoons over 6 weeks or so.

It is really important to remember that this form of mag DOES NOT rely on the gut for absorption and does not cause the laxative affect if you sip through out the day. If you get soft stools or D and suspect ReMag you are either taking too much at once, detoxing, or are completely saturated with magnesium and your body is getting rid of excess.

I'm doing my best, but it's really hard. Makes me nauseous. Also, I am hypernatremic (and adding salt does NOT correct this, it actually has a negative effect on my BP, but not on my sodium levels) and my sodium drops terribly when I drink too much. I really feel terrible then, and have been in hospitalized in a precarious position before this was dx'd. So I have ongoing instructions not to drink too much water. Too much by them is way, way too little for MY taste.
I already drink way more than the doctors recommend. When I do blood tests and my sodium is down I get an immediate phone call.
Balancing all this is SO difficult!

It is hard for you Lesley as what helps one health issue, can cause major issues for another...

in your case lesley, I think the reduced water intake is another item that contributes to the ongoing UTI issues.

Wow Lesley,

That really stinks! I wonder if just adding a tiny amount of sea salt would work to your water regime that you do? Are you eating it on your food? Like others have tried, using the ReMag topically before orally. I'm just thinking......when you add high potency minerals such as these, your body wants more water. I would call the customer service number that came with your pamphlet and ask them how they would procede with the protocol. If one of the girls isn't sure, they ask Dr. Dean herself what she "recommends" or what she would do if it were her. They have to say it that way because she no longer takes clients. Please keep us posted....

Thanks guys!
Gabes, you are very probably right. No idea how to deal with it.

Vanessa - I have NP in adding sea salt. I added it today, and didn't pee a lot, so either I am going to swell up, or it is doing me good.
Great suggestion. I will call them on Monday.

I wrote to Dr. Dean as suggested. She was away and replied yesterday. Here is her answer.

questions for Dr. Dean: I am a patient with microscopic colitis and other auto immune problems. I was recommended this form of magnesium because of it's absorbancy on our forum by many people with MC who use it.

******Yes, ReMag and ReMyte are both absorbed so fully that they are not hampered by intestinal conditions or leaky gut.
>
> I have a couple of specific problems. I am hypernatremic. I can keep my sodium at 135 if I try very hard to keep water consumption down. If it falls below 130 I feel HORRIBLE!
> I tried to follow your instructions, half my body weight in oz of water for 2 days, and used 1/4 tsp of remag in the water. I didn't quite make it through the water, but I felt awful, and bloated up 6 lbs in those 2 days. I didn't do it yesterday, and today I have an MC flare i.e diarrhea.

*****With a handful of people, we do advise to just start with one drop of ReMag in normal drinking water and slowly build up. I usually advise sea salt in drinking water but I'm sure you have to be very careful with your sodium intake, so just use plain water.

*****Magnesium does help heal the gut and tighten cell membranes, so it is important for intestinal conditions. Taking too much at first can open up a lot of the biochemical processes that require magnesium including detoxification. So, it's important to go slowly."

So, I started again, with one drop today, although today is a D day. I don't have nights when I have to clean myself up much anymore, and I don't miss them. I guess my efforts to break the current C cycle did pay off. BIG time!
This seems to be my fate - rotating between D and C, with C dominant.
Thanks again to all who helped!

My mother is so toxic she started with one drop on her wrist until she could move to oral. She is now at a little over 1/4 of a teaspoon after 6 months. She is also on 200 mg Dr. Best mag glycinate. Some people have to go at a snails pace and that's O.K.! Keep us updated....

I will. Just 2 drops in my water, not salted.
I have been doing Epsom salt foot soaks, and taking a different form of mag so I am not a complete rookie. But I am going very slow!
Thanks

If I might ask, What are some of the "toxic" symptoms?
I've been at this for quite a few months and I'm still learning.....🤔
Thanks!

Hey Lou Ann,

Everyone is different of course, but I will experience headache, sore throat like a cold is coming on, need to sleep more, slight rash on torso, mucus production in tear ducts through the night ( eye boogers). Usually the cycle is an over all feeling of runned down and all over yuck, then I know I will feel extremely well for a period of time. Much different than MC yuck and not long lasting.

I'm still doing everything the same, just thinking maybe I should stop all until I feel 100% better... Then again I don't want to start all over..... My body is just not cooperating art the moment.... Just a bit frustrated....
