A visit with my colon Dr yesterday was disappointing
My brief history
2005 colonoscopy with biopsy results nonspecific colitis and other things treatment Nexium.Nothing ever mentioned about colitis.Sick ever since but stopped Nexium
2014 colonoscopy biopsy results MC treatment 4 months Entcort.
I asked my nurse if my Dr thought food intolerance was related to MC her reply kind of (oops this is going nowhere)
My colon specialist thought I would be back to 100% by now since I did so well on Entcort (it did not do shi* for me I eliminated my poision foods) Now he wants me to have A endo done to see if I have stomach cancer or some other
reason why my stomach is not digesting food properly(I have not gained my weight back) but he does not do it I will see A local general surgeon I feel like he is trying to decide if I should go with A GI

Hi Terry,
Yes, if your doctor believes that Entocort "cures" MC, then when it doesn't work he probably doesn't have the foggiest idea which tree he should be barking up. LOL.
Life would be so much better for everyone if doctors only understood MC and knew how to treat it.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

I'm sorry you had a bad experience. It pretty much is the same response we all get. Last week mine said "Food has nothing to do with it, Its a inflammation disease". Really? Last time I see that over-paid, under-educated close minded waste of my time. I'm using the info I find here and hope for the best.
Good luck and take care.

It really is sad that we are so much ahead of the doctors in treating our disease, but I am grateful that we have this knowledge and can get our lives back again not chained to the toilet or drugs for the rest of our lives, I know many of you here have taken drugs short term and weaned off them, it has done wonders for you but it is so good to know with the right dietary changes and of course reducing stress we can break free from the hold these drugs that the doctors think will help or cure MC, are not necessary for us long term as they think. It is powerful taking control of our own health with supplements and as few drugs as possible. it has been proven to be done by many people here to reach, remission that way.
I know we are all on our journey in this disease with our different lives , and what is around us but we do have one thing in common, we support and help one another cope and that is a fantastic thing with so many from all over the world coming together in this amazing place and care so much. so grateful for you all.

Your doctor is half-right — true, it's an inflammation disease, but unfortunately food is the cause of the inflammation.Brenda wrote:Last week mine said "Food has nothing to do with it, Its a inflammation disease".

Well I decided to go with the flow and get things ruled out and put my mind at ease.
I see the general surgeon at the end of the month for A chat and my daughter warned me that he does not have good bedside manners I guess they now call the procedure EGD
Thanks everyone for your thoughts and input.

Sending good vibes your way!
Rule everything out, get a base line for yourself so you know exactly how to take care of you You know in your heart that once you do that you will be happy to take what you are learning here, apply it to yourself and one day it will be a great day and you will be overjoyed!
It does take time, even I have my good days and not so good days...the protocol I am doing at the moment of morning cholestyramine in the morning an hour after my breakfast of supplements (well it seems like that at times), and my protein (lots of during the day) on GF toast with coffee plus the topical magnesium and strong dose of VitD3 and the Re-Mag in my water during the day...(wow this has been a mouthful) I am having more good days than bad. Plus sleep has been super important for me too.
Relax and go with the flow, you will do fine

Well I saw my general surgeon yesterday and it went well he asked me A lot of questions to form his own opinion on what's going on.
I was going to keep my mouth shut on food intolerances but I told him everything from GF DF SF and diet he never batted A eye.
So I will have EGD in 2 weeks and I trust this one he might be A keeper.

I know I need to see gastro doc but been avoiding it for months. My family care doc furious at me for this. She doesn't understand why I count on the info I find here to help me survive and it has been a lifesaver the past 12 months. Food has been the killer for me and as the months have gone by since being diagnosed, more and more foods have become intolerable for my system. Foods I ate in the first 3 months are no longer on my shelves and never enter my mouth. It is like my body is rejecting more and more foods and narrowing my choices. So my choices are very very very narrow but that is OK if I can feel better. Yes, I have some really bad days but not like a year ago. And I am rigid about GF SF DF and sugar free. No veggies and fruits yet but maybe a year from now I will tolerate them. Just trying to keep something with some nutritional value sticking to my insides.
My family care doc said, "you seem a bit depressed." OMG wouldn't anyone feel depressed if they couldn't leave the house? And other than going to the drugstore or doctor's office, I do not leave my house due to unpredictability of my system. Going stir crazy at times so maybe I am a bit depressed. Not taking my antidepressants may be the other reason. But adjusting to my life of staying inside out of the heat is a big deal for me.
I'll make that gastro doc appt soon and hope she has increased her knowledge of MC since last year.

I really don't expect most Dr's to increase their knowledge in A year they are set in their ways and if you are getting by with two Dr's
well I wish I was this past month 5 appointments.
NP (PCP)
PA (Works under my main dermatologist)
Dermatologist (Takes care of surgerys skin cancer removed A few months ago)
Psychiatrist (anxiety meds)
NP (works under my psychiatrist saw 1 x then PSY decided to keep tabs on me himself for 2 meds for anxiety)
Colon specialist (could not get A GI for months and could not wait for dx)
General Surgeon (Need GED per CS and he does not do it so 1 more Doc added to my list)
Chiropractor (not A spring chicken any more)
My Psychiatrist keeps A list of my food intolerances and my new General Surgeon listens but not certain of his thoughts on food intolerances
my NP did not list them only put in my chart many food intolerances
I think I listed all my Dr's don't know how to thin the flock at this time

Back from my EGD today not liking the outcome so far.
1 Gastritis
2 Hiatal Hernia
3 Bile Reflux
Inflammation at the bottom of my stomach
6 biopsies taken other than that he didn't see anything and I think there is something my DW isn't telling me she didn't look happy.
Prescription for Pepcid and see the Doc in two weeks.

Terry, so sorry for your outcome! Please let us know about the biopsies. My husband has lived with a hiatal hernia for years and takes an occasional tums. If you can get the other under control, you will feel a lot better.

I was diagnosed with Hiatal Hernia in 2011, quite bad that they wanted to do procedure to resolve it.
I resolved majority of the symptoms via Vit D3 and lifestyle changes, and fully resolved it when i fixed magnesium and B6 deficiencies.
I have not had any issues with Gerd or hiatal hernia for over 2 years.
