Not sure what to do....

Post by crervin »

I'm trying to figure out the cause of these new (IC?) pains and adjust my diet. I'm getting different pains, one strange pain through my groin and another in the low, center of my abdomen. I have noticed that my vitamin d3 (blue bonnet fish oil) is causing me the groin pain. I take 2 pills in morning and 2 at night. I didn't take them this morning and didn't have groin pain. Tonight took them and the pain came. Can anyone think of what in the pill might cause this bladder irritation? Its just oils and gelatin. I really can't stop taking d3. This is troublesome.

I have frequent urination (15 times a day), but I'm drinking 8 glasses of water, 1 cup of green tea, 1.5 cups almond milk, and 1 cup of hemp milk. That's a lot, in the past I barely drank 4 cups of anything. I still don't get up through the night, yay.

I've noticed what I eat is causing the low abdominal bladder pain. I believe to be sweet potatoes. Going without it tomorrow to see.

On a good note, I feel my MC is calming. No urgency in the am and no WD. But now it seems its moved to my bladder 😢.

After reading a lot of IC support websites, they are really depressing. I am just wondering if those who overcame your bladder issues, did you experience the same groin pain?

Thanks guys for any info or hope you might give!

my suggestion is if you can find a safe lingual version Vit D3?
looking at the blue bonnet product 5000iu in one dose might be too much while your digestion is inflammed.
I take lingual version of D3, and spread the dose across the day.

Thanks Gabes, I forgot about those! These are 2000 units each, maybe I could try 1 pill 4 times throughout the day. At least until I get the other ordered.

Hi Martha,

I'm so sorry you're going through this, and hope you'll find your best solution soon. It sounds like you're making good progress with the detective work needed and I applaud your courage and determination!

While I don't have any IC experience to share that might help you, I did want to let you know about the type of Vitamin D that I take, which was recommended by my naturopath. I don't know if it's contraindicated for you for any reason, but this is what I take: Ortho Molecular Products Liquid Vitamin D3 with K2 drops. One drop on the tongue equals 1,000 IU of D3 and 10 mcg of K2.

What I like about this supplement is that it isn't a pill; comes in a small bottle with a dropper, and you can easily control the dosage. (I just saw that Gabes also recommended different versions of Vit D, so it's good for you to know there are options!)

Hi Martha,

What time of day to you drink the green tea? Try skipping it today. Also, high volume can overwork the kidneys and/or add to bladder problems.
The Interstitial Cystitis Network notes that the types of trigger foods causing a flare-up of IC can vary widely among individual patients. However, the Network includes green tea on their list of foods most likely to be problematic.Teas can irritate the bladder because of their high acidic content and can cause severe pain in sensitive people.

Thank you Tex,

I stopped the tea, but added back in my coffee. Going to have to go without either. My coffee is so tiny 😢😢. How can that be a problem in comparison to my 10 cups of water I'm drinking?? I also had to stop vit d supplements. It was causing sharp pains through my groin and burning in my bladder. I've been taking those for a year, crazy! I've ordered the vitamin d creams, one from Now and the other from Anu Med. Will give my results of the transdermal vit d in a few months.

Go to the urologist on wednesday, my husband thinks I have bladder cancer....that really isn't helping me. On a side note, it seems my MC is on the back burner now that my body is focusing on my inflamed bladder 😀. I ate a half of a banana last night and didn't wake up scratching my head off ......yay! Going to make the most of it and try something else.

If you have bladder cancer you should have blood in your urine.

That's progress on the banana. Maybe your histamine issues are improving.

that is good that you have confirmed some things that were causing the symptoms...

it is frustrating and tiring that issues keep happening and we have to tweak our eating plan... keep in mind that with the eating plan changes and supplements you are taking your body chemistry/cell health has changed ALOT, your body is going through alot of changes. having to give up things like the tea and coffee might not be forever, it is just what is best for right now...

Martha,

I have found that when I take too little magnesium or too much magnesium, I urinate a lot. I have to find that perfect balance and I think I've finally found it............

First of all, Happy Belated Birthday, Martha!!! I hope this will be a very healthy year for you.

:birthdaycakecandles:

Quote: I am just wondering if those who overcame your bladder issues, did you experience the same groin pain?

I had bladder issues last year in spring together with a lot of groin pain. I told my PCP that I had symptoms when peeing so she ordered urine tests. They showed microscopic blood. She then ordered a urine cytology. The results took over two weeks to come in and showed atypical cells, which prompted a repeat of the test. The reason for a cytology is to rule out cancer cells. I was very scared. My PCP also ordered an ultrasound of bladder and kidneys and sent me to a urologist. The ultrasound was normal. The urologist did a cystoscopy, which was normal. The PCP had also sent me to a physical medicine specialist who thought my groin pain was due to arthritis of the hips. The x-ray of the hips was completely normal. The urologist sent me for a CT scan of pelvis and abdomen because of the unexplained groin pain. The CT scan was also normal (aside from pulmonary nodules that they detected). He told me most likely the groin pain was caused by the colitis and that the colitis, the bladder symptoms, and the groin pain were probably all connected. Once my colitis symptoms decreased, the groin pain went away and so did the bladder symptoms. Recently, they all came back due to a flare, as did abdominal pains, my rash on my cheek and the weird feeling in my lungs that I had 1.5 years ago, as well as the weird feeling on my tongue. I have to say, it is fascinating how all these different organs are connected and are expressing themselves when my colon is not doing that well.

I hope everything went well for you at the urologist's office!

Love, Patricia

Thank you so Patricia for the birthday wishes and your information. Im so glad it wasn't anything serious and so hope you are doing better today!!

I go next Wednesday for the bladder scope. I believe the trauma to my bladder this summer (2UTIs, antibiotics, and D-mannose), caused it to become inflamed. Surprisingly, my gut is doing better and I was just starting to test new foods.

I've cut out a lot of offenders hoping to get the inflammation down. Sadly supplements are the worst. I'm using transdermal d3 and praying that I'm absorbing it. Water is all I'm drinking.

Strangely my cycle won't end either. It was so bad this time.

This disease throws a lot of curve balls. Thought I had my routine figured out and was on a road to recovery. Just praying this too soon shall pass and nothing else shows up!!

On the positive side...my appetite is back, my reflux is minimal, I'm gaining weight, my nails are stronger than ever, and my hair is the thickest it's ever been! Surely that's a sign that I'm getting some nutrition.😄😄😄

And it's also a sign that your digestive system is healing. That's really good news.

I am glad you are absorbing what you eat and improving in other ways! Good luck on Wednesday. I was a bit anxious about the bladder scope but it was really not bad at all. The urologist decided to do it after talking to me, right there in the office during my first appointment. It was done in less than five minutes.

Love, Patricia
