Dates?

Post by Rachaelknatcal »

Has anyone had a good or bad reaction to dates? I tried searching but I don't think anyone's posted about them. I've never had them before but I've noticed they're in quite a few Paleo recipes.

Hi Rachael,

It's possible to overdo dates because of the sugar, but in general they appear to be well-tolerated my many members here. Here are some links to old discussions where they are mentioned. These are from 10–11 years ago.

Dates are fairly high in sugar compared to other fruits. I think part of why they are used a bit in Paleo cooking as a sugar replacement.

each date can have up to 16 grams of sugar.

what we have seen over the years is that each person is different, and each person has to do their process of trial and error to confirm what food items work best for them..

I don't notice a problem when I eat dates. I don't eat more than one or two at a time because they're so sweet.

I used them for a while in bars (ground up with various nuts) but I got tired of them and haven't made any in a long time.
