Low Carb Diet

I'm doing a low carb diet to help with reflux and it works great but im losin so much weight im starting to feel it if you know what i mean: bones crackin...and more visible ribs....lol. :shock:

Any tips on how to stop it? Should i add more fat and wat kind of fat are bests in our cases when we are tryin to recover from a flare? Im totally lost on this diet, any tips will help. :razz:

im thinkin of eatin a carb based meal at least once a day...but havin my reflux improved feels so much better.....we just cant win can we? :lol:

I'm about to embark on the same thing while waiting for Enterolab test panels to come back. I know Jean does well on her low carb lifestyle. Maybe she'll chime in with some advice. It is awesome you have found relief with GERD!

Coconut oil is best, olive oil made in the U.S. that does not have Soy in it or disguised as a perfumed vegetable oil is also good. I use whole foods 365 brand sparingly.

If rice is safe for you that can add some calories. If you boil the rice with a tablespoon of cocunut oil, it actually reduces the carbs by half. Since my computer skills are nill, I can not direct you to the study. Tex posted it a long while back.

Tex always tells us we will survive on just meat and fat! You just don't want too much fat for everything to slide out! Maybe once your body acclimates to whats going on it will even out. Make sure you stay hydrated and mineralized. That was my mistake when I tried low carb a year and a half ago.

I follow a low carb diet. Dr Richard Bernstein who advocates a low carb diet for diabetes says that if you want to gain weight you should eat more protein. More fat (I use coconut oil, olive oil and ghee) might help but because protein can be converted by the liver to glucose it can serve to add fat to the body since glucose (carbs) get converted to fat (triglycerides). I would try adding protein before I added in carbs. Of course if you are not eating very much fat it makes sense to up the fat. My diet is both low carb, high fat and moderate protein and most definitely not low calorie.
