Tex & Donna

Post by sunny »

Well, my brain fog got me....I thought I'd responded to your posts and see I just thought about answering...

Tex,
As usual what you suggested about the possibility of my being sensitive to Salicylates opened my eyes to a very different cause of my difficulty. After reading the link you provided, I have been doing a lot of research on the topic and I think you might be on to something. I am simply blown away as so much of my already limited diet falls in this category! Most fruits and quite a few veggies...what a shocker.

So I'm slowly weeding out what I can. I also discovered that Amines can also lead to similar problems....foods like fish, bananas, avocadoes, & mushrooms. And fish sauce has 6X legal limit of histamines! Even decongestants & nasal sprays! Oh, my!
So I'm most appreciative and thank you for the time you invest in all of us!
Sunny

Donna,
I am so glad you let me know that you have only had a 10% drop in cholesterol in the past 15 months! That was very reassuring. I also appreciated your tip to increase Vit D plus explaining the schedule you use for dosing was helpful.
I'm still waiting for my doctor to reply to my message I sent on Friday.
Thanks, Sunny

Sunny,

For me, the Cholestyramine has been quite helpful in reducing the frequency of BMs. I usually have 1-2 BMs/day, sometimes more depending on what I have eaten and how I tolerate the food. The bm consistency had been a bristol scale 6 until I added a small amount of Psyllium and was able to get a consistency ranging, on a bristol scale, 4-5. I decided to keep my Cholestyramine at 3/4 scoop twice a day and add the Psyllum, rather than increasing the Cholestyramine because I thought that would interfere less with nutrient absorption. Sometimes my gut gets noisy at night and when that happens I take a small amount of Benadryl, which does a nice job of quieting it down so I can sleep. I continue to follow an AIP diet with reintroductions. This is the best I have felt since my CC symptoms started 8 years ago.

Hope this helps!
Donna

Sunny,

You're most welcome. I hope you can figure out a diet/treatment program that will work well for you.

HI Donna,
I'm doing 3/4 scoop also morning and night...with no added fiber and am like you with 1-2 BM's a day or every other day....a much nicer tread is taking shape.

Hi Donna,
Well, thanx again for these tips...really is helpful. It's encouraging that this has helped you so much!
Now I just need my doc to respond to my note. Guess I'll have to call the office to ask them to notify her that her inbox has a message for me!
