I must have a sign on my forehead!
Well let me tell ya what happened to me today. I got a call from the hospital telling me that I owed them close to $37,000.00 for my knee replacement. Apparently according to this person, my insurance I had at the time didn't pay 80% and nearly nothing at all. I argued that when I was going to have the surgery and the Hosp called to tell me it wouldn't pay anything, I decided to call Dr Hughes and cancell surgery. Dr. Hughes nurse said don't do that, I'll get back to you. Well the hospital called back that day and said they checked (I have the guy's name) and they will pay 80% and what we owed was 9,000 dollars after the insurance. I have been a bit upset over this as you may well expect. My sister said I may have to go to a lawyer and sue both hosp and Insurance. I am lost about this and don't know what to do. I refuse to anymore today....but probably will when Mike comes home and I have to tell him in about an hour. Love oma

Hi Oma,
Can you call the man back, the one whose name you have? See if he has any records of what he told you before.
Insurance CO's have no concience, they will try everything to not pay a claim. You may have to get an attny, but I would call that man to see what he says. It will be interesting to see if he remembers you.
Love and Prayers,
Kathyp

Jaco, a parrot in Salzburg, could not only speak but seemed to understand grammar. Whenever his person left, Jaco would say "God be with you." But when several people were departing, Jaco would change it to "God be with all of you."

Hi Oma,
I would suggest that you call Dr. Hughes office, and tell his nurse what is happening, as a first step. They may be able to easily resolve the issue, and if not, they should be able to tell you what you need to do to solve the problem.
Love,
Wayne

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Hi Oma,
I know the feeling--you work for weeks or months, and finally almost have all your ducks in a row, when some asshole comes out of nowhere, and flushes them all, so you have to start over.

Oma!
I can't believe it! I recall very clearly the day you discussed all of that here on the board. In fact, we can all be witnesses if you need us. Maybe Wayne or Peg can find that thread for us. You can use it for evidence if necessary. I'm sure it will work out OK - just try not to get too stressed.

I remember that too Oma. There must be some record somewhere of their advice to you that it was Ok to go ahead & that 80% of the cost would be covered. Good lesson though. Get everything in black & white. That is my motto. Not that I don't trust people but mistakes can be made & if you have a document that backs up what you understood to be the case they don't have a leg to stand on. Hope you can get it sorted out as quickly as possible. You certainly don't need this sort of stuff after all your previous problems.
