Question about 23andme results

I was expecting to need assistance in analyzing my results from 23andme. However, I don't see anything that needs interpretation. My report reads that of the 42 tests, no variant was found. Am I missing something? There is no mention of methylation which is one of the reasons that I did the test. I hope I didn't pay $199.00 to find out that I'm British & Irish, I had no doubt about that. Thanks for any assistance!

Hi Marcia,

23andme seems to be (IMO) hung up on ancestry studies, probably because that gets them the most sales. In my case, I'm really not interested in which neanderthals, celebrities, or neanderthal celebrities I might be related to.

I'm more interested in the health information that can be gleaned from the data.

To see an analysis of any gene mutations you might have that could cause possible methylation issues for you, run your raw data through Genetic Genie's data analyzer. Here's a link to their website:

the other good resource is 'Livewello' they have good medical type reports in groupings.

i also think their methylation report is a bit better than genetic genie.
worth the small outlay.

hope the Aussie lamb was tasty!!

I have been hand raising twin orphan prematurely born lambs for a week or so. Over the weekend while I was away, the little girl passed away.

When they were in here with me, I slowed down my lamb stew intake and swapped to other proteins. Didnt feel right to eat lamb in front of them!!

Oh yes, I would have done the same thing! Sorry the little girl passed away. I said to my dog that it didn't seem right to be eating lamb because the song "Mary Had a Little Lamb" kept playing in my mind (she was liking the smell of the lamb while it was cooking). But my gut needs the protein, so sorry little lamb! The lamb was very good. I browned it in a bit in coconut oil and cooked it in the crockpot. Doesn't get any easier than that.

Oh Gabes, I'm sorry to hear that....the labor of love when hand feeding can be such a difficult one when an animal passes not knowing why and if there was anything that could have been done differently, at least that is how I have felt with kittens, calves etc....

If you want to interpret DNA a bit further https://promethease.com/ this does a really decent job showing results too. In fact I use this one often to refer back to things I was looking for...I understand though that it doesn't hurt to re-purchase it yearly in order to catch new updates on DNA strands that hadn't been investigated yet.

the lamb - Princess Leia (her twin brother is called luke - star wars brother and sister) was struggling and we were all surprised that she had lived the week. she was having constipation issues and I thought I had come close to resolving it.
albeit in nature it is survival of the fittest and she was not fit enough.

Circle of life stuff. yesterday we found a little nest of 'Willy Wag Tail' chicks... not yet ready to fly.

....yes when the intestines don't want to cooperate it is met with certain doom in the animal world. I had a horse get colic once....walked that horse for a very long time to make sure he didn't die on me.

Oh, such sweet little lambs. Thanks for sharing the picture, Gabes. My mom often fed baby rabbits with a medicine dropper when I was growing up. They often didn't make it, but she tried her best. They always seemed to build nests in harm's way (lawnmower).
