Tick bite
I was bitten by a tick and am going to my doctor today. I am quite sure I will be put on an extended period of doxy so that I don't develop Lyme Disease. I am worried about the antibiotic due to potentially causing an MC flare. I have been feeling pretty well and maintain my health with diet (no MC drugs). Has anyone else been in this situation? Do I just take the doxy and hope MC doesn't return?

my thought on your situation is - we know how to cope with MC flare and how to recover from it. The risk of getting Lyme and dealing with its impact on the body has greater risk of more issues/longer term issues.
not everyone reacts badly to antiobiotics. One option is to take safe probiotics at the same time as the antiobiotics, SB Boullardi has worked well for a few here.

Robin,
Sometimes we just have to do what we have to do.
Good luck with the treatment, and keep us posted on how it goes.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

this is life with MC - we cant do everything perfectly all of the time...
ie we cant protect ourselves from flares ( well maybe if we live in a bubble, no external triggers, no stress, etc but that is not living is it?)
knowing your safest ingredients and meals, knowing how to recover from a flare is important.
also increase your Vit D3 intake and magnesium as a extra layer of protection from increased inflammation from the Doxy.
the other aspect to this, as we discussed in Lou-Ann's Cipro thread - our reactions to things like Antiobiotics is different for each person and I think there is a strong correlation with the intensity of the reaction and if you are deficient in key nutrients like Vit D3 and magnesium.
years ago I would react really badly to anesthetic, any type including dental take me days to recover. As I learnt about methylation, B6 and B12, what anesthetic does to the nervous system and halts the methylation cycle etc. now before any dental work I have extra B6, B12 (active forms) and magnesium and my reaction to the anesthetic is way way less. ie 1 day to recover rather than 3 or 4.

Well Gabes that's interesting and hopeful for me because I just finished working with my Naturopath to up my Vitamin D to optimal levels. I have also been taking Remag to increase magnesium. Maybe that will help me to bounce back quickly. Thanks so much for the information and the reminder that we have to just keep living and know what to do should a flare arise. Good advice to keep in mind for sure.
