The Gastrointestinal Tract and Liver in Hypothyroidism

Post by Lilja »

Hi,

Here is an interesting article about the gastrointestinal tract and liver in hypothyroidism; sluggish intestinal motility ranging from mild obstipation to paralytic ileus and intestinal pseudo-obstruction.

I guess that hypothyroidism also can result in the contrary to obstipation, as people with MC experience a lot?

Quote: Although diet may have a role in this modulation, thyroid hormone appears to have a direct effect on the intestine (44,52). Unquote.

Lilja,

Very interesting article.

Thank you for sharing the link.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

agree, very very interesting....

sounds a bit like my other issues, a bit of a spiral, one issue feeds another issue, and they end up in a spiral.

My term for it is "all over body meltdown"......and as horrible as it sounds, we are not alone in this. And I thank the stars everyday that we have the tools to fix a lot of these issues.
