OMA,,

I have a feeling that the person who got the whole thing straightened out for you at the hospital the first time will remember what happened when she talked to the insurance company, and jump back through the same hoops to get things set up like they were supposed to have been in the first place.

The second person from the hospital was probably someone with a little more ability to get things like that done, so my hunch is that the second one got it straight. At least she'll remember that she WAS told what you were told.

If I were you, I'd not sorry about it and just let the others doing the fixing for you after your get the wheels in motion, either with your doc's office, or else with whoever the person was at the hospital who spoke with the insurance co. Hopefully, you won't have to communicate with the insurance company yourself, but if you do, be sure to get all the information you can in front of you before you sit down to call.

Could be that the first person at the insurance company that the hospital talked to made the exact same clerical error. I've called them to correct things like that on a number of occasions with no problem, although it's difficult to understand the bills and EOBs at times, particularly if there are refunds, etc.

Got a really strange bill from the city EMS service one time. What happened was I got a bill for the full amount dated AFTER the bill that showed the insurance had already paid their share. In the past, when we'd used their services, the bill for the full amount would come right away, and then, they'd tell us to just wait til the insurance had had a chance to pay (they are ALWAYS late, or so it seems!)

Anyway, it is scary when someone makes a mistake like that, but big mistakes are usually just as easy to correct as little mistakes, so please don't get yourself into a panic, ok.

Yours, Luce
