Tex or Matthew RE: Stomache Acid

Post by annie oakley »

I read your thread on Why stomache acid is good for you. I have a question.......I have a hiatel hernia, which can allow reflux problems as well. I was told that the peppermint weakens the spincture muscle and allows stomache acid to backwash if you will. Is this true? Love Oma

Yes it's true. Alcohol, tobacco, caffeine, and especially fried or fatty foods, are also known to cause the problem.

Hi Oma,

I also have a hiatal hernia. The pepermint makes it worse for me as does alcohol and spicey foods. Smoking and caffine does not. Go figure!

I haven't had any peppermint tea in a while. But I sure wish I had a cigarette! It was in November 04 when I quit if I remember it right and I still want one. Even more so with the stress of trying to figure out how to pay everyday things like utilities and Insurance. But They can't eat me....I may need to wear more clothes but they can' eat me. Love Oma  \P.S I won't start smoking again....I promise

Oma, don't feel bad...........I stopped smoking in January a year ago and I still want one too. It's better, but I do still want one.
