Hi All,
I wanted to share an update. I ordered the multi vitamin patch last week and received them within 3 days. I just got an email saying there was a glitch with some people receiving their shipments with a 30% off coupon but I had no problems. I've used it 4 days and have had no bad reactions at all. It's easy to apply, I put it right on my belly every night and take it off in the morning. I had ordered a multi-vitamin pack 2-3 months ago from another company and had major diarrhea every night while taking them. No idea what was bothering me. I will continue with this product for sure! The 30% coupon code is patchlove..

Thank you so for posting this. Going to check into these, when we get our income tax return back. I can't take any oral vitamins, this will be a God send if I can use them!

Tex,
I would like to hear what you think about these patches.
I bought the multivitamin to try.....the patch, much to my surprise is very small, maybe a one inch square with 27 different vitamins, minerals and antioxidants in it. Just curious in what your opinion would be on how much the body can receive through such a small transdermal patch ........thinks it's possible they will work well, or no?
They have quite a different variety, like just Vit D, or D plus Calcium......maybe it's just the 27 ingredients that's making me say hmmmmm....
I would appreciate your thoughts!
Thanks so much!

Lou Ann,
Good question. I'm also surprised they would be that small. Transdermal patches in general work well. I've seen test results where magnesium supplementation was compared between oral and transdermal administration (using patches). Transdermal administration typically works as well or better than oral treatment. But I have no idea of the size of the patches used in the trials. The only patches that I've seen (for drug or hormone supplementation) had 2–4 inches of "active transfer" surface.
Despite containing umpteen different vitamins and minerals, most multivitamin (oral) tablets are not very large. They're usually much smaller than a typical magnesium tablet, for example. Presumably this is because they contain only relatively small amounts of each ingredient, in concentrated form. That said, I've never seen an independent lab test result for multivitamin/mineral patches.
If the 1 inch square dimension you mention is the delivery area (IOW, if it does not include the tape border), then that's probably a sufficient area. But if that 1 square inch includes the tape border (so that the actual ingredient delivery area is much smaller), I would tend to be a bit skeptical.; The problem with very small delivery areas under patches is that the small area requires chemical penetration enhancers to open the pores for optimal absorption. This is the skin equivalent of a leaky gut, and it can cause mast cell activation/itching. But that's just my opinion — I haven't seen any published research that verifies this observation.
But most (maybe all) skin products (such as lotions, creams, etc.) contain chemical penetration enhancers (CPEs), and most do not cause itching, so the effects obviously depend on the amount or type of CPEs used. Because lotions are applied over a wide area, the concentration of CPEs does not have to be very high in order to be effective. Under a tiny patch, the concentration might have to be much higher.
My guess (because I don't have independent lab test results to go by) is that they will probably work OK. The manufacturers are sort of forced to minimize the size of the patches because patches are a relatively expensive way to deliver supplements/drugs/hormones.
I hope I haven't just confused the issue.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
Guys I have no data to back up my experience but I have to say these patches are really helping me. I feel like a different person. More energy. Sadly, I didn't get the discount. I got tired of trying. Anyway, I'm using the B patch, d patch, and the multi-vitamin patches. I know I'm getting some iron from it, due to my BM change while on them. I feel I had a zinc deficiency (due to Tex's interpretation of my blood work (thank you, thank you!) and becoming nauseated while off of zyrtec), now that has resolved.
I so wished I could get bloodwork to support this, but that's at another time. I will get my vitamin d level checked again in a couple of months....
Thank you so for posting about these!

Martha,
That is encouraging to hear that you felt a difference after using these vitamin patches. I may order the multivitamin and the B. Not sure if I need the vitamin D since in March my level was at 50 (pre-May 1 flare). I also started the FloLife magnesium oil spray three days ago. Started out with four sprays on the first day to see my reaction and then increased it yesterday and today up to 12 (4 sprays 3 times a day).
I need energy! Hope these patches help because right now I can't eat as much food as I want to because of the nausea, burping and sometimes IBS feelings. No D thankfully since mid May.

1st severe flare 5/1/17 Budesonide started 6/7/17. MC/Gastritis 5/2013; IBS/GERD 2001nobiopsy. Celiac biopsy neg2013. Protonix2001-2006.
Wen,
I wished I could find out how much is absorbed. But I haven't had long hair in 8 years, my hair was so unhealthy that I keep it extremely short. I actually have grown it out to shoulder length. I believe my diet plus these have really helped.
Plus i recently ordered the glucosame and have been using it for 3 weeks. If I miss a night my lower back hurts. Its amazing to me. I have a rod in my pelvis from a fracture due to a car wreck and I've suffered from lower back pain since. This was huge for me. It has really helped....
I got a little relaxed on my vit d for last 3 months and after testing realize one patch a day for that isn't enough. Its only 5000 units in the patch. I've uped it to 2,000 a day plus sun exposure, going to recheck soon. I am using a combo of patches and lotion. We shall see. I so hope they work for you. I'm trying vitamin C now.

Martha, my heart goes out to you. I know what it's like to have severe back pain. Thankfully I haven't had that since 2002. Knock on wood!
What have been your vitamin D levels the last time you tested when it was low?
Take care and hang in there!

It was 24 and in December it was 47. Yikes! I knew I had been too relaxed with it. Well I was running a lot with my kids and neglected myself. Plus I was feeling so much better....not going to do that again.
Thank you Wen! You take care!
