Specific Food Questions
Preparing for changing of the diet as a newly diagnosed member
So, I have found some meat replacements: Lamb, Venison, Fish (thats ok right?) and duck.
Can I buy a turkey at the supermarket and thats ok?
Canned peaches / pears? or are fresh preferable then cooked? or avoid this?
Instant potatoes? no or yes
Onions?
Raisins?
Radish?
What about ham?
boar meat?
I am going to change coffee by eliminating sweetener altogether and switching to almond milk
Cooking with coconut oil is ok?
adding it to food ok? such as using it as a replacement on a sweet potato instead of butter?
Thanks kiddos

There is safe turkey in supermarkets - main thing to look for is pure no additive versions (USA members will chime in with their safe brands/options)
Canned peaches / pears? or are fresh preferable then cooked? or avoid this?
not ideal- as they are high fibre and high sugar stewed apple/applesauce is safest option or fresh banana
Instant potatoes? no or yes No- as i believe they have lots of additives
Onions? maybe not at first - down the track some can tolerate onions
Raisins? these can be high fibre and high sugar. if soaked a small amount may be used in cooking
Radish? you may have to test this one
What about ham? same as for what we said in the other discussion about bacon - look for gluten free and low nitrate versions.
boar meat? if it is pure no additives - go for it!
Coconut oil is a fantastic option for everything! cooking, and even as a body oil! it is pure, has good nutrients, and one of the safest oils we can use. NB some people do react to coconut so if you start reacting stop coconut oil and test it again to see if it is a keeper for you.

your welcome
did you check out the guidelines to recovery - stage one eating plan?
http://www.perskyfarms.com/phpBB2/viewforum.php?f=79
we suggest bland, basic few ingredients as starting point - get stable, allow some good healing to happen and then trial individual ingredients
it is so individual what each person can handle
what most of us have found is
- we have staples, the foods that we can eat every day
- some times foods - you can have them 3-4 times a week in smaller quantities with no issues ( any more than this and we start to react)
- once in a blue moon foods - small amount for special occasions
- NEVER again foods
you are doing great! you are asking the right questions and embracing the eating plan changes with good attitude...

I have checked that out....I am trying to marry my food life now with where it needs to be....if that makes sense.
I dont like how i feel. I want and need to feel better. If this is what it is, and this is what it takes, then I guess God will see me through it....and that is just how its gonna be....do i like it? um, not so much, but this isnt forever (stage one)....
The thought of steroids or cholesterol meds is dire to me. If its possible to do this without them, that is definitely on my plate (get it, a food joke) bwahahaha
psss. Is making homemade applesauce preferable to store bought? assuming the answer is yes....specific apple for that?

love it that you are making food puns!
places like whole foods have safe meats on the bone that are good for bone broth.
for the bone broth - use bones of what ever safe meats you have.on my plate (get it, a food joke)

yes, safe is NOT beef pork or chicken, just clarifying
we dont specify exact meats as depending on where you live and what is readily available / what is affordable /what you like to cook with etc
for me living in Australia, lamb is readily available, cheaper than other red meats and settles really well for MC'ers as it is a grass fed livestock.
Our feeling is that meats like chicken and beef that are feed high amounts of GMO type grains is contributing to our reactions.
I can also access wild caught fish that settles well (farmed fish tend to be fed things like soy etc and are not ideal for MC'ers)

Hi Lori,
My replies are in bold. Hopefully that doesn't confuse things.

So, I have found some meat replacements: Lamb, Venison, Fish (thats ok right?) and duck.
All proteins are ok for me. I can eat fish. Some folks can't.
Can I buy a turkey at the supermarket and thats ok? Yes, I look for one that is turkey and water only.
Canned peaches / pears? or are fresh preferable then cooked? or avoid this?
Early on avoid or eat minimally. These are sugary.
Instant potatoes? no or yes NO, Use real potatoes. Anything other than Russets (baker potatoes) Russets are tougher to digest.
Onions? Avoid early on. I can eat now.
Raisins? A few are probably ok, could be questionable.
Radish? Avoid raw early on. I am ok with cooked radishes after I am healed.
What about ham?
boar meat? I'm assuming this is like a wild hog? Sounds yummy! I would be ok with this as long as no additives.
I would probably be ok with ham as long as it is not heavily smoked and no additives.
I am going to change coffee by eliminating sweetener altogether and switching to almond milk
