Good Luck, Karen!!!

Post by Polly »

Hey Karen!

Only 2 more days until the race! WOW! I have been thinking boutcha and getting excited. You must be SOOO excited!

It sounds as if you are more than ready, both physically and mentally. And I know you will do GREAT! Just remember, no matter WHAT time you end up with, it will be your personal best for the half-marathon.
I will be thrilled for you if you just cross the finish line, no matter what the time The longest race I ever did was 10 miles, and it was something! Thirteen miles sounds awesome to me.

I'll be sending positive thoughts and vibes from MD to SC on Sat. AM. And keeping everything crossed. :xfingers:

YOU GO, GIRL!

Love,

Polly

Hi Polly,

I am getting excited!
I wish you were going to race with me - if we plan ahead we can do it next year.

I will be thinking of your vibes while tearing up the asphalt in Myrtle Beach.

This morning I have been writing lists of things to remember - the food is an issue but I have already planned what to take and it isn't a big deal. I will have a kitchenette in my room - this should be a piece of cake!
I will be bringing my own salad, dressing and some home made Italian Sausage to the pre-race pasta party that my training group is having in the Hotel Friday night. That resembles what I eat on most nights for dinner and I will feel good knowing I am safe. I don't want to miss the fun at the party.

I am going to leave Columbia around 1 p.m. and drive to Myrtle Beach; check into the Hotel and then pick up my race packet at the Expo. After the Expo it will be time to either prepare for the dinner party or go for a walk on the beach. I will see how much time I have on hand when I get there.

The race starts at 6:30 am - I don't know how early we will have to leave the Hotel but I have volunteered to be one of the drivers so I must leave whenever they decide is the right time. I will be getting up early so I can work out the kinks in my digestive system before leaving the room in the morning. The lines can be and probably will be very long at the portaJohns once we get to the starting line. I don't want to need to use it.

I will be sure to tell you all about the race.

Love,
Karen

Karen,

This sounds like a very exciting event! Hope everything falls into place for you and the weather cooperates. I've been to Myrtle Beach so can kind of visualize the area and surroundings your running in.

You go girl!

Joanna

Good luck Karen. It is great that you are doing this. We are all so proud of you.

One of our daughters who is 45 years of age & quite a big girl (takes after her Mum) entered in a triathlon recently. We were so proud of her. She didn't win but was certainly not last as there were at least 300 people finishing after her. Just having the courage to enter was an achievement.

Go to it

Love
